Here's how you minimize Rondo's weaknesses...

    - Use him the way Stockton was used. Setting picks in the high and low post.

    - Let Rondo draw fouls early in quarters so that the other team gets into the penalty, and then start slashing your better free throw shooters when they will definitely be going to the line.
(Noone can stop Rondo from penetrating, so use that strength)

    - Stop having him pound it at the 3 point line where the defense can sag. Run the plays quicker or have him give up the ball when he crosses half court.

True. He still averaged about as many ppg as Rondo though. Plus he did'nt take a lot of 3's, soooo the high percentage is fool's gold.

What Rondo made 1 out of two 3's a season, would his 50% on 3 pointers really mean anything?

I'm sure Stockton made less than 1 three a game. It's like not even being able to make the shot at all.

    This is utter nonsense.

Stockton shot 38% from the 3 point line for his career which meant that he is a 3 point threat, whether he takes the shot or not.

Rondo shoots 24% from the 3 point line for his career which means that he is not a 3 point threat.

Stockton's 3 point shot you have to honor. Rondo's 3 point shot you can ignore.

I think by the end of next week this will be a mute conversation. Rondo is going to be gone.  I just heard on Comcast sports that we will accept Paul without a guarantee of signing in advance. This with package of a signed BBD or hopefully JO looks to get done after all. DA wants to make a change and he will move mountains to do so as he has proven before.

Paul will love the adulation of Boston and maybe Dwight will to.  This may be the plan I hope Doc and Danny have in place.

Let's stipulate what you posted to be accurate, for arguments sake.

What you're missing is when Rondo drives and draws fouls early in the quarter, he will go to the FT line and miss. So the early quarter fouls he draws are the equivilent of turnovers for the Celtics 1/2 the time.

I believe Stockton had back to back years where he shot over 85% from the line, 50% from the floor, over 40% from 3, and averaged over 14 assists.  Rondo is not even in the same discussion.
