Rondo must be really harming them with his lack of skills.

    the Lakers are good,

so are the Hornets.  The Mavs and Suns have good teams.  The Spurs and the Jazz are downright scary.

My personal power rankings would be as follows:

    Celtics
    Lakers
    Jazz
    Spurs
    Hawks
    Heat
    etc.

Honestly, the Heat didn't give the Celtics half the game that Memphis did.  And Miami's had two cracks at it.

For that matter, OKC gave Boston a better game than Miami.  The only reason they're on this list at all is because of their future, not their present.  Sounds stupid, I know, but why else would a 6-4 team be on this list if not for its potential talent?

For the record, ESPN has the C's third in the power rankings, behind Miami and NO.

There is no way Miami should be in the second spot.  No way.

Hollinger's rankings are based on stats.

Even a Celtic fan would know that the Lakers are way better than the Heat right now.

Wow, Lakers are way better? Trash talk.
Where were you? They are the world champion for two years.

at this early stage, Lakers far better than the heat and a bit better than the Celtics. Respect!

The Lakers are giving up 103.6 pts per game against their opponents.

A bit better than the Celtics you say?

    NO WAY!

    for the record

I'm not using Holinger's equation.  ESPN has the Celtc as #1 in the NBA.  Holinger had the Heat on top after they lost twice to the Cs.

Anything that has to do with Hollinger should be ignored, it's been proven year-after-year that his power rankings are as ridiculous as are his articles.   He has never been right about anything...and he knows it.  He does what he does to instigate debates and arguments to make himself seem more important and popular.

Actually Hollinger's power rankings are based on a formula he developed. He uses a scientific approach. Unfortunately, sometimes the numbers don't tell the whole story.

Hollinger is a strange dude in his thinking......his article ranking the Lakers as the all time greatest franchise unleashed the Laker trolls onto this board....he has no credibility.........all time regular season wins play a huge role in his overall assessment....funny...we have a better head to head record in both the regular season and the play-offs...plus the most championships all time and the greatest winning percentage outside of the Bulls....and, excuse me, but I'll take 17-4 over 6-0anytime....he is a joke!

Yes, and its been proven year after year that his system is flawed, and he needs to go back to the drawing board.  His current so-called scientific approach is more erroneous than the theory of evolution.  GO GOD!!!!!  LOL.

Jeeze Rayallen1, I hope you don't believe in dinosaurs. It's just a hoax to get us to stop believing in god. At any rate, I don't think there's any doubt that the Cs are the team to beat right now. Let's just hope that's the case come April.

ESPN has a lot invested in having Miami high in their opinions.

(I refuse to call them power rankings anymore, they have 0% merit!)

ESPN is motgaging their reputation on pushing for the Le Bron vs. Kobe.  They have canned commercials collecting dust from 2008-2010 just waiting to be used.

Any talk of who's the best in November is down right silly.  Basketball doesn't even start until the new year.

YES!  Now we get to play in the BCS championship!  Oh wait... the Finals are in June?  And you still have to play 70 more games AND PLAYOFF SERIES?

My thought on Power Rankings: meh
    mental m*st*rbation by sports writers
