Hey would you look at that, the same idea I had months ago.

The article states that the Celtics would need to throw in a pick to satisfy the Pistons taking Wallace's 'monstrous' contract. Ummm.... Jennings is only about 4 million less than Wallace over the next two years, pretty sure that is an almost as even swap.

As the article stated there is almost no room for Monroe with Drummond at his more natural center position and Smith's more natural position being PF. With Rondo on the team there is no room for Jennings and Rondo is a better PG, especially in light of how badly Smith wants to play with him, than Monroe is a center.

I would do that deal and also include Bass in exchange for the expiring contracts of Jerebko and Will Bynum and ask the Pistons to give us there 2nd round pick this year (#38) and their 1st rd pick in 2017 (top 3 protected).

Pick #6 take whoever is there between Exum and Smart, assuming they are not taking 4 and 5 and both gone. Then at #17 take Saric if he falls or one of the PG's like Robinson III, Warren or Early.

At #38 take a good shooter if he falls like Hairston or Jordan Adams or maybe consider a high quality guy like Nick Johnson or spencer Dinwiddie. They are a team who can afford to wait out Dinwiddie's injury or draft and stash a foreign guy.

    C - Monroe, Faverani, Iverson

    PF - Sully, Olynyk, Anthony

    SF - Green, Warren, Johnson

    SG - Bradley, Smart, Dinwiddie

    PG - Jennings, Pressey, Smart

"...while Jennings and Monroe would join Jeff Green in helping to restore the once-proud Boston franchise to respectability."

What??? Jennings, Monroe, and Jeff Green as a core wouldn't restore jack!!

Jennings is a cancerous BUST. Monroe is no better then Kris Humphries offensively, and he is much worse defensively.  He gets 12 more minutes a game and averages only 4 more points and 3 more rebounds with a lower shooting percentage than Humphries. The biggest difference between them is that Monroe wants a MAX contract!

Now that the inept Pistons lost their draft pick and obviously refuse to offer Drummond they have nothing the Celtics should be interested in.

Give up Rondo and a first for two of the most overrated players in the NBA?  This author must hate the Celtics, and want to see them toil in mediocrity for as long as possible.

    Hi,

Even if Danny does this trade RR will bolt out of Motown after the end of the season and I doubt that Pistons will take him as a rent.

The premise that those 3 players would help restore Boston to respectability is silly. But your descriptions of Jennings and Monroe are completely false.

There is a difference between a cancerous player and an immature (Jennings) or stubborn (Rondo) one. The C's would be trading a stubborn pass first PG who thinks he is the smartest guy in the room for an immature shoot first PG who thinks he has the most talent in the room.

Jennings is a 6'1" Lance Stephenson. He would be fine here as a 2nd scoring option, allowed to play PG alongside someone like Bradley, more with bench players, or play SG if he starts and the C's can add a tall PG to defend SG's (maybe Smart?).

Jennings career shooting #'s are decent from behind the 3 point line (35%) and at the line (80%). His 40% FG shooting overall is a sign of his immaturity as he often wanted to go one on one and be the 30ppg guy. Despite that he averaged over 5.5 assists a year in 4 of his 5 seasons and is still only 24 years old.

Monroe is WAY more Big Al than Kris Humphries.

He turned 24 last week and despite mediocre defense at the center position will give a 17/9 no problem with room for improvement.

Rondo described as simply a stubborn, pass first PG who thinks he's the smartest guy around???

Sounds pretty benign, all things considered.

That's like describing  fungus as  a somewhat  prickly poster who enjoys winning an argument.

In truth, R9R is far, far more  dysfunctional than that.

You've not scratched the surface yet.
