How do we lure great free agents to a cold weather city?

Players ( like our hall-of-famers and Rondo )

Management and ownership have to be grade A to compete with warm weather cities.

Maybe if the citizens of boston would clean up there city, that would be a start. Boston is so nasty and attrocious that it will be nearly impossible to lure anyone to that place.

Boston is one of the most beautiful cities in America.  You have got to be kidding.

It can't be that hard to sell.

Tell them that they have no chance of winning, they'll be lined up.

Signing Doc is definitely a first step but DA still has to find another carrot. The Celts have a great tradition and a good organization, so I don't think it has as much to do with the city. It just seems like superstars now want to play with other 'young' superstars, so similar to trading for Ray to lure KG the Celts need to somehow take a chance and trade an asset for a big chip and take a chance that you can resign that chip (like they did with KG) and then hope to lure other talent.

I would much rather the C's take a chance like that than to keep plugging holes with lesser talent and watch this team age.

I think you're thinking NY.../ I met someone in Boston from NY who said he couldn't believe how clean the city was compared to NY.

However, you're probably from Cali were you get colonics and wear stupid brand name sun glasses and breathe the death of smog and then wash it all down with wheatgrass shots.

In 2012 they will have Bradley, Rondo, and Pierce under contract at a total of about 27 million, with a hard cap at around 60 million.... so somehow they will be able to add 13 players for 33 million........  originally ecstacy was legal but eventually it was determined to be a bad substance and declared illegal - how do you keep getting it?

They only need to have 12 players. 9 players for 33 million and 1 will be the draft pick this year. So it makes it 8 at 32 million.

You will be able to find 7 players at around 16 million,if you land Howard.

Never too old to fantasize I always say.

Hey Dwight - Rondo can't shoot, Pierce is near the end, we are still trying to learn about Bradley and here are 7 other nobodies....

Wow thanks Danny - where do I sign?

Name another situation that will be better for Howard?  His only other hope is ,if Orlando can add Chris Paul(who wants to play with Amare and Carmelo)

Lakers have no cap room, and why would Orlando want an injured big man for Howard.
The Bulls have no cap space, after overpaying for Boozer and Korver.

What other situation would be better for Howard?  Every single one where there is good young talent that can be traded for Howard - the Clippers, Sac, GS, Mil, OKC, Hou, and probably several others that I will not even try to think of right now because even asking what other situations other than the great Boston is very simply silly.

Lol at Mil,and OKC,Golden State and Sac.   Why would Howard want to go to any of those 4 teams?

OKC is a small market and Westbrook isn't a big attraction as a pg.

Cippers is the best team out of those for him, but can anyone trust their owner and their history?

Because they have been compiling very good young players.

The size of the market has absolutely nothing to do with it.

GM of Sacramento - Hey Dwight - Tyreke Evans, Beno Udrih, D Cousins, Casspi, Jason Thompson, Marcus Thornton, Francisco Garcia, and maybe Derrick Williams or Rondo, Pierce near the end, Bradley, and 7 2 million dollar players

GM of GS - Hey Dwight - David Lee, Steph Curry, Monta Ellis, Al Thornton, and maybe one of the Morris brothers or Pierce near the end, Rondo, Bradley, and 7 2 million dollar players

GM of Philly - Hey Dwight - Jrue Holiday, Iggy, Thaddeus Young, Brand, and Lou Williams or Bradley, Pierce near the end, Rondo and 7 2 million players

I am now convinced I need go no further and that is just 3 of many more.....  maybe just three examples will get you thinking in the right direction.

Yes that lineup of Sac. really entices players.  Golden State likewise with their awesome defense they play.

The Cippers i'll give you  (Griffin,Gordon ,but their owner is hated by all players.)

Tradition! They don't make it any more..
Who is more likely to win a championship? Minnesota, Clippers, Orlando?
You need to right management, fans support, and key players to build around.
Riley managed to get Lebrains and Bosh to join Wade..He can speak from experience. So can Boston...I hope Dwight watched the way La quit this year..and how Boston has fought hard to the end, these last few years.

The Boston Celtics. 57,59,60,61,62,63,64,65,66,68,69,74,76,81,84,86,08. Tradition. Need we say more? And the racial polarization of the 70's is so much better now, so that shouldn't be a problem.

When they add the DPOY they might play better defense.

You just have no clue do you?  You looked at those rosters and ignored the OR part in each statement, i.e. those young talented rosters OR Pierce at the end, Bradley, Rondo, and a bunch of minimum contract guys...... you simply don't get it....  you probably don't know that Tyreke Evans was the 3rd player in history to score 20, get 5 boards, and 5 assists as a rookie..... but why go there... I would take Monta Ellis or Steph Curry ahead of Rondo and not too long ago people were clamoring on this very board for David Lee but of course since none of those players are here - how on earth could they be any good.....  wake up.

I won't even go into the lineup of Beasley, Love, Wes Johnson, Ridnour, Anthony Randolph, and Martell Webster PLUS Howard.......  nope Howard would be foolish to select any of those teams over Pierce near the end, Rondo, and Bradley plus a bunch of used golf balls with no dimples left.

Oh yeah and how good was Evans this year. He didn't get any better and their team regressed, and his teammates don't like playing with him.

Motae Ellis the Warriors have been trying to trade. Curry can't develop much, because Ellis is ball hogging and chucking.

Beasly is a 6th man,and doesn't play defense. Wesly Johnson is a bench player too.
Randolph failed in Golden State and New York lol.  Ridnour is a bench player.
    The Wolves are laughable.

Yeah like you are clueless about the kings playing better ,when Evans was out. How
the knuckle head from Kentucky started a fight, because he was pissed Evans wouldn't pass him the ball and shot too much.

Argue as much as you want (and continue to lose the arugment) but talent wins...... at the root of it that is why Howard will not be here.... a complete lack of talent.  When Howard shows up and says hey I have been to the finals and this is how it is done then everyone else matures quickly......

Remember the scene when Indiana Jones is faced with a guy doing all sorts of amazing moves with a sword and thinks he has Indy right where he wants him and then Indy pulls out a gun and shoots him dead with one shot?  Go lay down, and stop bringing knives to a gun fight.

Rondo and Pierce are better then any of those young guys you mentioned.

You brought a water gun, which  knives are more then enough.

Your best arguement would be he would join Chris Paul on some team, but you overrate these guys on the Wolves and Kings and Bucks lol.

Danny might be able to trade Rondo for Chris Paul and pickup Howard!
The Hornets would agree to a sign and trade, before they would let him walk to New York for free.
