    How to Beat the Heat

The Heat lost to the Wiz tonight.

Lebron, Wade, and Bosh all got 20 or more points tonight. Lebron even had a triple-double, his first this season.

So how did the Wiz beat the Heat?

Let's start by looking at the score.

    Wiz 105, Heat 101.

Heat once again allowed the opponent to score over a 100.

The Wiz were led by Jordan Crawford's 22 points. Seraphin also had 16 points.

Ray was guarding Crawford in the 4th qtr. Crawford had 7 points in that 4th qtr.

Seraphin got 8 of his 16 points in the 4th.

    That's 15 of the 23 4th qtr. Wiz points.

It's not surprising that Jordan Crawford got his way with Ray Allen, we all know Ray's not a good defender.

But how did a guy like Seraphin get all those points in the 4th qtr?

Simple. The Heat don't have a rim protector or a big that can block shots. The Heat only had 2 blocks against the Wiz and all of them came from Lebron.

So it's very clear now, if you want to beat the Heat, control the paint!

You forgot to mention RA was 4-12 (3-9 from 3 pt) and  0-0 FT. He definitely helps Heat when he's on his  game.

Guess the next 24hrs won't see any "boohoo, boohoo, we don't have Ray" threads.

That's the thing, when the Heat's shooting is good, they win. But the Griz, Clips, and now the Wiz clearly showed us that the Heat are very weak in the paint.

The Heat are also a jump shooting team. Unlike the Bulls of the 1990s, this Heat team is very small. Bosh and 4 SFs, or SGs, are on the floor every time. This can be exploited.

Yes, looking at the score is the best way to see who won.  I doubt there is or will be any formula on how to beat the heat.  They like all defending champs will have average teams playing in the zone against them.

When it comes time for the playoffs, the heat will be the team to beat.

But it's very obvious the interior of the Heat defense is very weak.

Unlike the champions of past years, this Heat team totally has no inside presence.

Time will tell.  I doubt the heat are losing any sleep over it.  They'll work out the kinks and will take the division and go further in the playoffs then the celtics.

While it's likely they will go farther in the playoffs than the Celts, one thing remained constant against the losses to the Wiz, Griz, and Clips, the Heat have no answer for big men who can score in the paint.

It's also not about the losses, it's how they lost. Last night Seraphin was having his way in the paint against the Heat defense.

Even when the Heat beat the Spurs, Splitter, in place of Duncan, had 18 points and 9 rebounds. Splitter doesn't usually score in double figures.

All I'm saying is the Heat are not as dominant as some would think.

BUt if/when they play us is when they will dust off Anthony and Haslem who have historically killed the C's. There in lies the problem. We cant use the formula of other teams because we have no Center and noone to control the paint, but thanks for the Formula, maybe we can sell it the Nets so THEY can beat the Heat...

Fierce analysis is fraud. Do you know that when the Heat face a team nemesis like the Celtics, the Heat turn their notch twice?

You can't over analyze stuff....sometimes you have to look who is the opponent. Case study... Last month I remember the Celtics lost 2 in a row from a svcky team...then Durant and company came and beat them. Simply the Celtics would like to make a statement over a classy team.

Yeah right, Heat will turn their notch againts Wiz.

If you're watching the Knicks vs. Heat right now, you'd see the Heat totally has no interior defense. Melo's not even playing and the Heat are giving up way too many points.

What's a fraud is you only mentioning the Heat vs. Wiz. How about when the Griz and Clips beat the crap out of the Heat? Don't tell me the Heat will not "turn their notch" against the Griz and Clips.

I don't know if you're blind or not, but if Bosh is the only big out there, on the court for the Heat, that means no interior defense. This analysis is backed up by the number of points the Heat are giving up this season.

The Heat giving up only 92.5 ppg last season was good for 4th in the league last season.

This season the Heat are 21st in the league. They're giving up 99.88 ppg this season.

    See the difference?

We need a Center that can take care of business down low. Get these small ball players in trouble.

Gortat is the ideal player the Celts should have at the C position.

Hopefully Ainge can get it done.

Knicks beat the crap out of the Heat again tonight. And Melo didn't even play for NY.

Knicks won rebounding battle because of Chandler, Kurt Thomas, and Sheed. The Heat had no answer for Chandler and Sheed inside.

Some said the Heat let the Knicks win last month because NY was flooded by hurricane Sandy and the Heat took it easy on the Knicks. What's the excuse now? Typhoon Bopha?

The game is still on and the Heat already allowed the Knicks to score 112 points with still a little over 2 minutes remaining.

    Maybe it's because of this?

Ray Allen was the hero in that one, but the Heat are still suffering defensively (allowing 110 points per 100 possessions) when he's on the floor.

Fierce are the Knicks that good?  I didn't believe with all the old big men they were.  Did we make a mistake by not bringing Sheed back?  I hate them almost as much as the Lakers.

The Knicks are elite. They only turn the ball over 11 times per game, #1 in the league.

Give credit to Mike Woodson, he turned that dysfunctional team around.

Their formula for success is simple, play unselfish basketball. Basically the Knicks are playing small like the Heat and Celtics. But because of Tyson and Sheed, the Knicks can get away with playing small.

I hate to say it but the Knicks are for real this time.

The Knicks are playing like a Euro team. They're swinging the ball from side to side. Even the Heat defense wasn't fast enough for the Knick offense.

But since the playoffs is still more or less 5 months away, hot shooting early in the season is a disadvantage. Just ask Barkley and Ainge when they were playing for the Suns in the 1990s.

We already have enough 3pt shooters. Terry, Pierce, Barbosa, and Bradley are good enough.

It's that inside presence that will command a double team is what the Celts desperately need. He doesn't have to be a Center. As long as teams will double team him once he gets the ball in the paint. By having an inside threat, the Celtic shooters will get a lot of open looks. Right now opposing teams know the Celts are just a jump shooting team. Hard to shoot from the outside if every shot is contested.
