we need body's at this point.
even with Barbosa we only had 11 active players.
time to bring in 2-3 D-league types to fill out the roster at least.
we really have no depth to make any trades at this point, it seems.
K. Martin shoud probably be contatced at least to see if he has any interest.
we are starting to look like a red cross tent now.

Danny's waiting to see what other teams are gonna cast off so he can buy cheap. Don't really see him doing anything but that unfortunately.

This is beginning to remind me of the 1986-87 squad.....injury riddled....but that team was great and was able to make it to the Finals vs LA....they ran out of gas in the end.....but for the non call under the basket at the end of game 4 (combined with Magic's "baby skyhook" and Bird's game ending missed three) things might have ended up differently...once again...that's why they play the games...

Duke, you are right on with that comparison! Gutsy, hard working, tough players, with no quit in them!

Shelvin Mack Is A Strong Candidate to Sign With C's, Delonte West Ruled Out
Posted by Brian Robb on Feb 12, 2013 (1 hour ago)
Plenty of buzz out there from national writers as well as Celtics beat guys about the team's possibility moving forward without Leandro Barbosa in the backcourt. As I wrote about this morning, it appears Boston will be looking for a stopgap guard for the next few games, before finding a long-term fix once the trade deadline passes. Here's the latest from a number of reporters today on possible moves:
Celtics weighing options after Barbosa injury, likely to go with 10-day and revisit after break. D-League's Shelvin Mack a strong candidate.
7:50 PM - 12 Feb 13 Here's a bit more on what the C's could expect from a Mack, a guy who has spent time in the NBA with the Washington Wizards and Philadelphia 76ers this season
Here's John Hollinger's take on Mack's play from last season via ESPN.com
Scouting report
+ Smart, solidly built pick-and-roll point guard. Good handle but lacks athleticism.
+ Disappointment as a shooter. Solid rebounder. Struggles to create offense.
Analysis
The book on Mack was the he could shoot but might struggle with the other stuff. In his first season, he struggled with the other stuff as expected and couldn't shoot, either. Mack shot only 40 percent from the field and was a crushing disappointment as a floor-spacer, hitting only 12 3-pointers the entire season. The fact he made only 29.3 percent of his 2s beyond 10 feet offers little encouragement on this front, nor does his 71.2 percent mark from the line.
Mack also struggled to create offense, as he lacks great burst and athleticism. His saving grace was that he was fairly efficient when he wasn't shooting jumpers; he was above the league average for point guards in pure point rating and drew fouls at a high rate. Mack also surprised by rebounding very well for his position, ranking in the top quarter of point guards.
Defensively, his limitations were clear against speedsters, but he by and large did a solid job. The Wizards sometimes asked Mack to play off the ball in small-ball lineups and he struggled to defend 2s, but he proved adequate against most 1s.
Look for a move to made, potentially as soon as tomorrow before the C's game against the Bulls at the TD Garden.

For a quick fix, the Celtics can bring up Shelvin Mack, a capable Butler product who has already played 11 games this season with the Wizards and Sixers. Mack, a 35-percent shooter from 3-point territory in college, has yet to see his accuracy translate to the pros, but that may be blamed on a shortage of opportunities. He has taken a total of 262 shots in his NBA career, an average of less than four per game. Mack is familiar with Boston’s system from spending the bulk of the season with the Celtics’ D-League affiliate. I like Mack - he was a great player on a national stage with Butler.
Let's get him and move on!

my guess is because he is a youngster that is a bench/role type player at the NBA level....but why not bring him in for some depth right...? .....it's clear that he has talent....

Remember, the Celtics cut Kris Joseph who was only supposed to get 473k.
If the Celts sign Mack now that would mean the Celts pay double because of the luxury tax.

He's also played in 11 games, 7 with Washington and 4 with Philly, in the NBA this season. But why didn't he stick with those teams?

Because he is a marginal shooter and not that athletic... I liked his game in college but you got to think we need someone with more experience and a better athlete.
