Dieng is Desagana Diop 2.0.  Every player from Senegal has been a bust in the NBA so far.  Good defense but low basketball IQ.  The spot light of the final 4 made him a potential 1st round pick, but he is a 2nd round pick at best

Absolutely correct.  I cringe at all the Celtics fans here with their fingers crossed, praying the Celtics draft Dieng.

I agree that its time to begin the re-build which means moving the vets and overflow of SG's and Bass for xtra picks and new blood. Though this draft lacks impact or franchise changing players there are some solid players which could be developed under a re-build or at the least we accumulate solid assets for a deal 1 or 2 years down the road. Under that vein I would recommend draft positioning to get the following tiers of players (requiring a second 1st rounder and obtain a 2nd round selection).

"Paints" - 1st Rnd -A. Len (if by chance he drops or we could move up to top 7)or S. Adams (may not be as much of a project as my original thoughts) or G.Dieng I don't think Gobert will ever fill out to be a productive big.

"Wings" - Ist rnd - K-C Pope or J Franklin or Karasev and perhaps Bullock as a sleeper but he could provide perimeter defense.

"Backup Paints" - 2nd round - J Carmichael (a stronger rebounder with better hops then Bass) or Mike Muscala (a stretch 4?) or Mbakwe

This staregy assumes we address back-up PG via trading esp if we can get Bledsoe via Pierce or KG to LAC or someone else in Free agency. These draft selections address our rebound issues with youth and add perimeter offense.

    Dieng can replace Melo

    Crabbe can replace Lee

    Hardaway can replace T-Will

    Curry can replace Crawford.

Crawford is not going to be good for us. Jamal Crawford, maybe. I'm not a big fan of Jordan Crawford however.

Erick Green is a nice back-up playmaker and scorer fo sho!

So many good role players we could use. Seth Curry is like Marc and Pau Gasol. If Seth is half as good as his brother I'll take it.

Like Dominique and Gerald Wilkins. Two good players though not the same.

I don't like Shabazz at all. Not explosive or quick enough for his position. No Antoine Walker like handle to make up for it either.

Jordan Crawford, T-Will, and Courtney Lee should be able fetch us 2 First rounders and a 2nd rounder.

Lee , Wilcox, Melo to Cavs for #19 and Andy V?

    Crawford to Utah for #21?

    T-Will to Cavs for #31?

Look at Barnes and Ezeli as rookie role players. Very good. Not afraid of losing some of our established role players for potential upgrades.

I think he will be o.k. No Paul Pierce in him at all. Pierce had the handle and step back that has carried him from college to pros.

    Rondo

    AB

    Green

    Sully

    ______

That is your core.  AB and Green are sure not potential HOFers at the 2 and 3, but I see a big hole at the 5, and Melo will never fill it.  Trade KG, Jet, and Pierce if you can get anything for them.  Draft a 5.  Draft another 5 if above 3 do not bring size in return.  Sign BU 1, and 2 with the cap space moving 3 gave you(I assume you got at least a few expiring contracts).

I'm going to add Glen Rice Jr to my wishlist. Awesome offensive stats in last years d-league finals.

    30ppg 12rpg 4apg 3spg 3bpg!

    On 56% fg & 45% from 3.

    80% free throws.

He a 2/3 wing with nifty handle.

Gorgui Dieng, Allen Crabbe, Tim Hardaway jr, and Seth Curry.

    Too much?

Can we trade some guys to Atlanta so we'll have picks #16-#18?

    Courtney Lee? Terrance Williams? JET?

Both Seth and Tim have great genes. I know we are desperate for a big man but Steph Curry was the best scoring PG in the game, I thought, and his brother could be better.  If we had Curry and Hardaway, Jr. I'd start them both as rookies and get rid of Rondo for a Big Man. We certainly wouldn't need worry about lack of scoring from the perimeter.

Shabazz looks like a good college player ala Lou Roe. Drafted higher than his teammate Camby I think, but never translated to pros. I could be wrong. I didn't like it when we drafted Jeff Green so...I'm not perfect.

That's the problem. His power moves are going to get shut down by superior athletes in the pros. He probably will not get as many offensive boards with his mediocre hops. The one thing he could do is bring his fight and energy though. That has worked for Joakim Noah.

Put Phil Pressey on my list of great back-ups for Rondo.

Erick Green, Seth Curry and Phil Pressey. Pressey being the best quarterback, Curry the best shooter, Green the most balanced.

Interesting article in the Metro this morning about Danny interviewing Nerlens Noel at the draft combine with the possibility of moving up in the draft to sign him.  The Celtics were one of a handful of teams that met with him.  Nerlens is from Everett, MA and the Celtics could definitely use him.  I don't believe it would happen and Danny would have to trade with Cleveland or Orlando in order to draft him.   I don't think either team would want any of the current Celtics players.  Found the article very interesting.

Speaking of the draft - where do some of these guys get 2"-soled shoes? Seth Curry goes from 6'1" to 6'3.  Really, how does a player gain 2" by just putting on a pair of sneakers?  I know some wear orthotics, but 2" is absurd.  Maybe they're wearing those illegal spring shoes....

I can't speak for anyone else but the "without shoes" measurement should be all that I'd like to see.  That plus wingspan provides enough information before a vertical jump measurement.  After those, I check the BMI and try to imagine a player either adding or subtracting weight/muscle.  On to the agility testing.

I, for one, would blow up this team in a heartbeat if we could get Noel and Dieng!

That's like Ibaka and K.G. together.

I would imagine that Danny would do whatever he can in order to move up in the draft.  The other team would have to be willing to trade with the Celtics.  Just not sure that it would happen.
