Red Auerbach was the greatest, but to go into the details of a man who won nine titles by the time he was 48 years old is silly on site like this. He built the teams he won with and then built five more championships for others to coach. Phil never did anything like that. Frontrunner coach for frontrunner trolls. -

The poster didn't specify NBA, nor did he specify sport. Add Pat Summit, Don Meyer, Scotty Bowman, Bill Walsh, Connie Mack.......................Anyone realize how hard it is to win TEN NCAA titles?

Wooden greatest basketball coach of all time, even Phil Jackson would concede it.
pro: debate between Red and Phil.
only an idiot homer would insist that there isn't a worthy debate there. Ranking Phil number one because he coached your team is a baby-like way to argue.
"Phil is the greatest coach of all-time, but he will not coach again."
Umm he would have coached again this year if D'Antoni hadn't been selected over him. That was really well handled by your franchise by the way. Now Phil hates your team and will never coach there again.....

No disrespect to Wooden, but he had talent that nobody else had sans his 1964 championship. Red was responsible for sixteen titles. -

He coached from 1948 until Kareem arrived..with NO talent. All he did was win league title after league title. He did not start winning NCAA titles until Kareem. Much like Red until Russ got there............but Russ stayed, Kareem left, Walton left.........and Russ stayed!!!!!Get the picture?
