Let's remember that the Celtics of '86 lost in the Finals the following year (massive injuries) and remained competitive as the Big Three aged over the next few years....now imagine Len Bias and later Reggie Lewis on that team and in their prime....not hard to imagine another title or two is it...?

Actually it is hard imagine, when you take into consideration who the Cs drafted, post 1988! Mike Smith, Darren Morningstar, Acie Earl, Eric Montross, etc.

One thing we'll never know is if KG would have waived his no trade and if the players DA was offered in return for KG, PP or both made dealing them worthwhile.  I think if there was a deal that would helped with a rebuild that Danny would have done it, but he wasn't going to make a deal just to get rid of two great players.  Plus, the guys the Clips were offering have potential, but it's more likely that they would have made the C's just good enough to be one of those "good but not great" teams that never get a shot at drafting a franchise player.

At this point, they will need to let KG or PP go and stink for a while to get draft picks and salary cap space.

Not sure what you mean.  KG refused to waive.  That should mean that DA was ok with the deal and KG was the one thing that stopped the deal.  Why would KG asked to waive if DA did not already ok the deal?

If we had Len Bias and Reggie Lewis I believe we would have drafted someone other than Michael Smith....Tim Hardaway or Vlade Divac as examples....

All true enough but if the Celtics keep playing with the lackluster jump shooting team they are the Boston fans will not tolerate it and the boo birds will be flocking more that the swallows of Capistrano.......I believe that the Boston fans are maybe second behind the Philadelphia fans as far as expectations of having an elite team.......and as we stand now we are far far away from being an elite team........no owner wants to see his team on national TV get booed for poor uninspired performance

Jordan Crawford is the change. Unfortunately it's a disappointing change because Ainge could have done better.

Instead of Crawford, why not Redick?

The Bucks just gave Orlando Doron Lamb, Tobias Harris, and Beno Udrih. Clearly the Celts could have given Orlando more!

I don't think Redick would have made "THE DIFFERENCE".........have to figure DA didn't want to give up any other pieces to make that happen.

It could be worse! We could be the LA Lakers: highest payroll in the NBA, 3-coaches in the past 2-years, no draft choices for the for-see-able future, a losing record, a center they went all in for that will bolt for greener pastures at the end of the season, an aging star with a bum knee, and oh yes.....last but not least a GM who does not have a clue!!

    Thanks Mitch!!!!!!!!

Redick would've been an upgrade over Lee.

The Celts are just 26th in the league in 3pt shooting. Redick could have made a difference in that department.

I agree........but it wasn't going to be the move to make if Danny wasn't going to do anything other than just add that..it would have cost more than, making the move to Crawford. Just to be clear though...I'm disappointed in yesterday...expected more.
