Yes, thanks, BP, but it just irritates me.  Yesterday he traded Perk too early, and today he held onto KG and PP too long........UGH!!

He is a top notch GM who's only interest is in making the team better.

But, you are correct, and I need to chill myself.............did I say I can't wait for the season to start?

Multiple league sources have repeatedly said that Rondo wants to start the season in Boston and see where things go from there. A similar sentiment has trickled out of Celtics camp, as well. Rondo is hopeful that the team Danny Ainge is assembling around him is better than most anticipate, that they can be this season's feel-good story not only in the East but throughout the NBA. And if I was Rondo, I wouldn't want to play on this team either, and put up with the kinds of ungrateful fans we see in this forum who see only his flaws and none of his strengths. You mean the ungrateful fans that pay a fortune to buy tickets & pay outrageous concession prices etc so Ronda can cash his annual $13M annual check?  Yes, they are ungrateful for demanding & being annoyed of the brat for dogging it during the season, refusing to play defense unless theres a stat connected to it and so on and so forth.

Yes, how ungrateful of those fans to wonder why they throw their $$$ away to temporarily divert their attention from life to enjoy their sports team, if only for a few hours. How ungrateful they are for daring to voice any negative opinions of their darling, as if it will cause Rondos $13m paycheck to bounce.

Maybe we all should just sit quietly & fawn over everything Ronda does and enjoy the delicate angel heaven blessed us with... Poor Ronda must be hurting inside knowing some posters on BDC dont share your opinion.. I bet he'd stay in Boston and take a salary cut just to hear a few more kind words here. I wonder what happened that caused ESPN to take down the video of off-camera comments by Jackie Mac. Also, the network that a lot of the posters love to hate is pretending that these comments never happened.  Doesn't anyone have the guts at ESPN to ask Jackie on camera about her comments or is Jackie simply backing off for unspecified reasons?

    [/QUOTE]

Nope...they have always been gutless when covering any and every sport if the truth happens to slip out unless it helps their status as " World Wide Leader" of front running-type stories in big markets.

Also from the world of "what did you expect them to say", what did you expect "team" Rondo to say in response to the "rumors" that his people told the C's he doesn't want to be here? "Heck yeah, I hate this city, I hate thinking of signing with this team that can't get big time FA's to come here to play with me and that it will take a good 5 years before they challenge in any serious fashion for a title and I'll be in my mid 30's by then!" If he plays the entire season here it will only be by default, that nobody will meet the C's asking price or that nobody wants him. Could he re-sign here? Yes, he could, for around $13 mill/yr. for 5 years, when he'd be in his mid 30's before a rebuilt C's team challenged seriously for another championship.

Oh, and BTW, Jackie Mac has a spotless rep in the business, covered the team for a long time and doubtless has GREAT contacts all over the organization, including DA and ownership, which is probably a source for her info. Get real with the Jackie Mac attacks. There are ALWAYS people in organizations leaking and planting stories to trusted members of the press for their own reasons.

For Rondo's sake, I hope he gets a decent offer from some other team that is a contender. I'd like nothing more than for this guy to win another championship with a contending team that will let him run the floor and dish out dimes and let him find happiness. He just won't find it here.

Totally concur regarding the gutless network.  BTW I appreciate Jackie Mac's honesty and candor as much as most posters here, and I enjoy her well-thought out articles as well.  I did not mean to impugn her intentions.  Nor did I expect the Rondo camp to say anything different from what they said.  I simply wonder why DA or some other Celtics management type would damage their own chances of striking a good deal by leaking this type of information?

Regardless of what's the truth, I doubt a Rondo trade occurs until he can prove to potential trade partners that he has got most his game back (whatever that means). DA is not stupid; he'd like to get the best deal he can for moving Rondo but for that to happen, he needs him to help the turnaround and re-establish his value (whatever that is).

Here's a somewhat balanced article by Stephen Babb in bleacherreport.com which suggests that trading RR may not be as easy as most may think.  There is a very limited market for his talents because a lot of the teams have their own "franchise PG", many at a much lower cost.

The issue: Rondo likely wants to get traded to a big market team that has few trade assets, i.e. NY, LA, etc.

Rondo's agent will simply tell all other teams he has no interest in signing with them (long term) after the season!

Very few need a PG that have cap space and none of those were willing to offer much.  Which team would you have traded him to and what would you want in return?

My first choice: IND.  Give me Hibbert and bunk him up with old friend Jeff Green.  Throw in a filler like Bogans, Babb, Johnson to make it work.  Watch out playoffs, here we come.

Second choice: HOU.  They'd roll out the red carpet for Rajon.  They'd give us picks and young talent.  And, they're already a contender, so I doubt you'd hear any complaints from Mr. I Want To Be On A Big Market Contender.

There is no such thing as partial tear ACL reconstruction.  Believe me I know, I had many ACL surgeries.  With partial tear, you may elect not to have surgery and use brace, but not advisable for high level athlete.  Rondo had a reconstruction which involves replacing the whole ligament (partial tear or not) with a new one which is drilled into the bone and strapped tight across the knee joint to hold it together so the knee joint does not slip when you make a plant and cut move while changing direction.  His rehab was 6-8 months consistent with ACL reconstruction surgery.

Actually, for a lot of people, the new ACL ligament is several times stronger than the old one so in theory, the knee could be better as long as other structure around the knee and other ligaments did not sustain other damage during the previous trauma.
