    James Jones

NBA.com reports that James Jones of the Miami Heat has opted to become a free agent. (http://www.nba.com/2011/news/06/29/heat-jones.ap/index.html?ls=iref:nbahpt2) If he exercised his otion to stay, he would have received $1.4M next season. Jones torched both PP and RA in the 3-point shootout during all-star weekend. He also shot 43% from 3-point range during the season. He wasn't used much though in the Easter Conference finals and the championship series. He could be an interesting pick-up for the Celtics considering our need for offense in our second unit.

He would be a good pickup to backup RA or PP.

    Re: James Jones

Green is a different type of player. He'll be good when you want to go small and use him at the 4. Jones is a better option than Wafer...can we agree on that?? He can rotate between SG and SF when needed.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: James Jones : If you watched the series against the Heat, Jeff Green was used mainly as a SF.  James Jones would be a nice addition if he agrees to sign for the minimum. And James Jones is the better shooter but Von Wafer is the better player.

That was Wafer's problem he didn't shoot and if you're a shooting guard and you don't shoot, um why are you on the court? I want a SG who can shoot. LOL!

You need 15 guys on a roster.  Green isn't even signed.  You don't think Jones might be an okay fit for one of those 15 spots?

Jones would be a very good pick up for Danny. Like other posters have said, he can be a good backup for either Pierce and Allen. The guy has a 40.2 % career average from 3 point line, and we are going to as many shooters as possible, just like how Dallas had to win the championship.

they need samuel dalembret. they're not going to get nene or chandler or marc gasol. sam d fits them perfectly: rebounding and blocking. between him jo and the rook the front line isn't really strong or weak. thats great when every other position is strong. if its possible they should get crawford just to help allens minutes

Mike Miller never impressed me for a moment this year.  I know he had injuries but after Jones killed us in the opening game he was essentially never used again.

It is a mystery.  Miller really never played so well that Jones could not find his way in there.  The Heat even went to Eddie House in the last game leaving Jones sitting.  Something was up.

obviously, he's looking for more than 1.4 mil. so we'd have to offer him more than that.

If he can be had for the minimum or slightly over then I think it would be a good move for the 2nd unit!
