DA! K-Mart is a better locker room guy than J. Crawford (based on what I have read)! Why not sign K-Mart?

Because KMart is worse that AI.he is done,I've had 4 knee surgeries and at 55 I have a better vertical than he does and better BBall IQ. He is Lawrence Phillips a decade later.  He sux he was a marginal player when the talent in the NBA was at an all time low. That is why all 30 teams in the NBA haven't given him an iota of interest. I would rather give Tione a max contract than give chump mart directions to a YWCA league gym. yeah thats right I said YWCA. Time to go out and spend 5$ on a new digital clock because your has burned out  and still reads 2003, it is actually 2013. Crawford is 24 and avg 14 pts 4 rebs& 4 asst in 25 minutes and was made a "Hallmark" made an example of by a desperate coach that next coaching job will be a DivII school. THAT'S WHY !!!!

The Jordan Crawford pickup fills one of our needs.  Crawford comes in as the most prolific scoring guard on the roster now.  Crawford can score like no other guard on the roster.  We will have to make sure he can get settled in on the defensive end but from an offensive standpoint, this was a great pickup.

If we did not get a big who can man the paint, at least we got a player who can score the ball.  If you put him, Pierce, Green and KG on the court, with say, AB, I like that lineup.

We'll see how it goes but we still have some glaring needs and if they don't get addresed by buyouts, we're in trouble.

Rajon-Hondo, KMart is a seperate issue and has nothing to do with Crawford that I can see.  Giving him a 10 days contract maybe more expensive than a clock but really nothing in terms of expense that the Celtics has to give up.  There is really no risk there and if he can't play anymore, then he should not stay beyond the 10 days.  I am not sure what Crawford has anything to do with KMart.

Its not a coincidence that players involved with the Wizards organization often leave headcases ie: Mcgee, Blatche, now Crawford to name most recent. They run an insane asylum over there. To get Crawford for basically Lennay Kekua, I'd say it's a good trade

    Re: Jordan Crawford

    A good, fair, article:

The Boston Celtics are currently 25th in the NBA in offensive efficiency, and about to enter the home stretch of the 2012-13 season without the team’s best offensive facilitator in the injured Rajon Rondo. Desperate, and coming off of an embarrassing 14-point loss to the defenseless Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday, the team went all-in for that gunniest of gunners, former Washington Wizards guardJordan Crawford.

The price? The expiring contract of a player in Leandro Barbosa that will be out for the rest of the season, and most of the next (presuming a team picks him up) with an ACL tear. That, and big manJason Collins -- who might be waived as Washington already boasts a sturdy, defensive-minded frontcourt. This is not what you would call a blockbuster.

Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski was the first to report that the C’s were not sending young center Fab Melo to Washington, but Barbosa and veteran center Jason Collins instead. The deal ensures that Crawford will have a chance to chuck his way into Boston’s good graces as they attempt to stem a recent three-loss in four-game swoon. Courtney Lee has disappointed this season in Boston, and Jason Terry hasn’t played as well off the ball as he’s played on the ball at point guard this season, but this is still a last ditch attempt by Boston as the team attempts to not be forced into a few 72-point games when the playoffs start.

And for Washington? They wanted Crawford off of their roster and away from young guards John Wall and Bradley Beal so bad that they dealt for an expiring contract that actually won’t make much of an impact this summer. It’s true that Barbosa (and, by extension, Jordan Crawford’s relatively tiny rookie contract) will be off the Wizards’ payroll come July 1, but the team isn’t looking at any cap space this summer with the team already on pace to go just about up to the salary cap with only nine players on the roster.

For Boston? They take a flier on Crawford, securing him for the final two years of a tiny deal (under $1.2 million this year, over $2.1 next season before becoming a restricted free agent) to see if they can talk some sense into the guy.

Crawford can score, but only if he’s allowed to shoot a lot. He’s the classic low-efficiency chucker – shooting 41 percent from the floor, a below-average mark from behind the arc, and rarely (3.4 times per 36 minutes) getting to the free throw line. He also averages 18.1 points per 36 minutes, but what does that matter when he’s taking 16.2 shots to get there, while working with plenty of chances in a Washington offense that currently ranks dead last in the NBA?

This is the guy that originally rose to fame by stuffing one over LeBron James in a confiscated video brouhaha from 2009. More recently, he’s made waves by telling reporters that he feels “like I’m better than” Michael Jordan, referring to himself as a “dominant scorer” and underrated passer, and utilizing his scouting skills to tell us all that, yep, Kobe Bryant actually hisses while on the basketball court.

So, he’s a character. One that can score, though, working on a tiny deal. For the price of absolutely nothing, he’s worth a shot – even if the Celtics (who have taken chances in recent years on Stephon Marbury and Nate Robinson) stuff him on the end of that Ubuntu-bench by the time the playoffs roll around.

To that end, and with the Celtics keeping the core intact even with Rondo’s departure, the move makes sense. The team has the option to shun the 24-year old, or turn him into something that helps. For the price of a player that wasn’t ever going to wear a Celtic uniform again, it makes sense.

If the Celtics are expecting anything major from Crawford right away, and before that attitude and shot selection overhaul, they might be left wanting. This is how things work, when you’re desperate.

    I like this trade.

We get a young guy who averaged 13 points a game, and all we gave up was one injured guy and Collins.

KG, Wilcox, and Melo can play center.

Agreed, I think everyone here would rather have seen Collins 10 mins go to either Melo or Wilcox, now they can battle for them... and if both do well hopefully Wilcox gets 10 of Bass's mins:-)

and of course swapping a 30 year old, career 12ppg bench energy scorer with a torn ACL who'd be a FA after the season

    for

the same type of player, who is 6-7 years younger and actually scores a bit more and is controlled for 1 more year at 2m

    is a great move

Hopefully Crawford will be able to rehab the Whizzard out of him in 28 days. Crawford has skills, HOFer skills doubtful. At this moment can produce as well as Barbosa and Collins, yes. 1.1 for 2 years, so we cut salary to help avoid extra luxury tax,add a young talented player that isn't past his prime or fragile. Is he a guy that "puts us over the top"? Nobody that was even remotely available was going to do that. Are we a better team now than we were at 2:30 p.m. yes. A buyout big if we get one, will be as good or bad as any C that was available for trade anyway.

So when look at it; we traded two 30 + players that one was done and the other a 5 mpg career guy that combined made 1.8 mil and were 1 year players for a 24 year old player that can score and has the physical tools to play D and can rebound a little, 4 rebs 22 min and pass again almost 4 asst in 22 min at 1.2 mil for this year and next for zip. That is why I think this is a awsome deal for us.
