Some say he's a chucker. What you guys think? I still believe the Celts are one big man away from being an elite team.

Joe Dumars is supposed to be one of the greatest GMs in the league.... he had 4 all-stars and had just won a title.... his goal was to manage the salary cap and disassemble the team... he lost both Wallaces, Billups was traded, he tried to back fill with Charlie V and Ben Gordon and they have been horrendous ever since and as a result they have were able to draft B Knight and Monroe and that at least gives them a sniff for the future.... so is there anything to be learned from that????  Absolutely.... do not pretend that the remnants of your team can just add a couple of overpriced players and get right back in contention...... you need actual talent, that comes from the lottery and the only reason the Pistons have any sort of future, as soon as they can rid themselves of Charlie V and Gordon can they actually start to rebuild..... so let's not kid ourselves into thinking that Danny needs to make a couple of career / legacy shaping moves and the Cs are right back at the top..... they are in for a long drought and the sooner they move Rondo the faster that drought can begin....keeping Rondo ensures that they continue to s uck but not s uck enough to get blue chip talent especially with Pierce still around...... Danny's legacy is in two pieces - (1) bringing the BIG 3 together and (2) disassembling them... Rondo is just a blip in between.....

billups never helped the pistons right? point guards NEVER have anything to do with a teams success right? why didnt the heat win the finals last year? THEY HAVE NO POINT GUARD while dallas has jason kidd and smarter all around guards....you really think they lost because of wade and lebron?

I would not include one of this year's draft picks, maybe a 2014 or later pick top 10 protected. Alternatively we should offer the expiring contracts of JON, Daniels and Dooling and a 2012 second round pick for Kaman. Another possibilty would be Allen and 2013 first round pick to MIN (lottery protected for 2 years) for Beasley and W Johnson who go to ATL for Josh Smith and switch first round picks with ATL this year. My pet trade for Allen is with IND for Paul George (extend and trade contract to make $ work and switch picks with IND this year - 15 to 24)

That would be great but I believed under the CBA, teams even under the cap could only take back salaries of 150% plus 100K over what was going out

NO KAMAN IS NOT WORTH A FIRST ROUND PICK

He would be a nice pickup after a buyout , but he has to want to be a Celtic

I would not trade E'Twan Moore , JuJuan Johnson or Avery Bradley either......

It's a shame about Ray, but he looks like the odd man out....

Re: Kaman Worth A 1st round pick?

Rondo had a great night 25% and missed a game winning layup by himself, yep near allstar does it again.  On his best night we went into overtime against a second rate team, yep near allstar.  Rondo for Gasol, Gasol is much better than Kaman, but Kaman is better than our centers except for KG. Gasol helps to solve the problem of being last in the NBA rebounding and he helps with inside presence and scoring.  Rondo would only be average with teams like Phily and 76ers, he needs the big three more than they need him.

In the last 20 years the Bulls have won 6, the Lakers 5, the Spurs 4, etc.   The only good point guards that have won titles in the last 20 years are Billups and Parker and in my opinion each would have won their titles with other point guards because it is my belief that the point guard position is vastly overrated... BIGS and WINGS win titles and if you happen to have a decent point guard - Jim Paxson, White Chocolate, Kidd, Smith, Fisher, etc. good for you... but the point guard position is vastly overrated.....  getting the ball to BIGS and WINGS that can score and defend are essentially the only thing that matters... Last year's MVP lost the eastern conference title to a team without a point guard and the team that won the title had a 40 year old point guard........  none of what anyone would consider the elite point guards in the league have ever played for a title.....
