    KG is the key

anyone know how many minutes KG played tonight?

    25

I thought it must've been a mistake when I first saw it. the only time he plays that little is blowout victories or blowout defeats, and we have precious few of either.

last year we came agonisingly close with KG playing on one leg.

It's clear where doc's priorities lie.

    Re: KG is the key

You must have not watched the game, Fiercest is right, Kg was in foul trouble and thats why his minutes low.

After KG got hit on the head by Hans.. I watched them both as they down downcourt, expecting just what happened.. KG giving him a shot.  Guess he had to do it but it was a dumb move. I bet the refs were just laying in wait watching for it too.

That was a very bad move for the team. KG apparently cant control himself.

The last few weeks should also end the debate about why KG doesnt post up much.. other than fall-aways, he has no inside power game. He's just too skinny and gets pushed around. Rarely will you see him dunk unless hes wide open. He also puts up some weak shots in traffic..

KG is great player but lets not try to make him insto the player hes not. This is why at 7 foot, he plays PF... not C

    Re: KG is the key

KG is lost right now.  He looks like he's in cement.  He is agonizingly slow.  He has no lift or explosion.  He looks really fragile when going to the hoop.  His shot gets blocked quite frequently when he goes to the hoop.  He just doesn't go with authority any longer.  Offensively, he's turned into a one-dimensional jump shooting PF.  The problem with that is when he's off or doesn't get many looks, he's a non-factor.

Last night, he was a non-factor.  He had 3 fouls and then picked up a very stupid foul on Hansborogh (sp?) as "retaliation" for receiving a foul to the head.  Very stupid on his part!  However, when he was playing he was not aggressive at all.  He got some touches too.  Even Donny noted KG is passing on alot of open shots.  It's like KG is not even looking for his shot.

I stated this on another thread that it appears that KG is looking to pass the ball the second he receives a pass.  He's doing that "forced" ball movement while passing up high percentage open shots.  All this does is increase Baby's or Rondo's shot attempts while reducing his.

He has to return to the attacking KG or we're not going far in the playoffs.

    Re: KG is the key

KG is tired because of Shaq failing to get back.  It is that simple he was playing like the KG of four years ago before Shaq disappeared.  I hope Shaq is coming back in some real way to help this team.  So much of his absence has been surrounded by vagueness about his injury I sense now it may be more serious.

If Shaq has gained significant weight it will be very hard for him to play himself into shape in the playoffs.

    Re: KG is the key

I agree.....Even Doc said he wanted to rest K.G. and he went out with 5 minutes left in the 1st which is early for him, as he usually comes out at 2 or 3 minutes mark, and wasnt in foul trouble yet.  Doc knows he is spent, but he is still going all out in practice in order to try to get this team right...He needs to be sat down for a game or two, maybe 3, IMO, and he probably doesnt want to....

He is still rebounding ok, but you can tell he doesnt want to go inside..and its because he is tired..thats why you defer to jumpshots...and they aint falling right now...Lets hope with jermaine back (thursday, I hope)  K.G. can get rest and we can still have a presence out there in JON.  I think people forget how essential Rasheed Wallace was to the 2nd unit last year.  He talks as much as K.G. on defense, and right now our bench is not on same page defensively cuz noone is talking out there....Shaq will help too, as he was vocal on defense when he played earlier...K.G. cant do it all like he used to.

throughout his long playoff career, KG has played less than 30 minutes only 5 times, usually in blowout wins or blowout losses.

if this had been a playoff game, he would've played more, fouls or no fouls, (and we would've won)

JO was never here to begin with...and when he did play, he was ineffective...and  now he is rusty  You give him too much credit.  The dude is done.

Otherwise absolutely agree we need Shaq back to win and KG is key.

The list of injuries and trades have taken their toll on the starting five, KG included. No one is playing at a consistent level on offense, or defense. It is as if the Perk trade, and loss of their defensive identity, have made them lose focus, and some level of confidence.

The return of the injured bigs and the start of the play-offs should bring back the focus. The second season is a fresh start, with a fresh focus.

???? he's always been that way. it just gets more obvious now because the team has to depend on him in side. he has never a interior guy. perk was masking that for him. perk made him look strong. perk made him look good. again, watch game 6 after perk gt injured and game 7.

he is not tough physically. it's really asy to get in his head. and he is not savvy when trying to retaliate.

This team belongs to Paul, KG , and Ray-  We will go as far as they can carry us.  Rondo and others are roll payers and are important but we did not have a contender until Ray, Kevin, and Paul teamed up.

Just had fun watching Shaq smack Bynum on the head on you tube. Kobe comes running over to save bynum's life. It's pretty funny.

You mean the one where Bynum, at 17yrs old, schools shaq in the low post and dunks on him then throws an elbow on his large pretruding guts down court?

Bad bad Andrew Bynum is no longer a 17 year old kid, he's a BEAST and poor old shaq is old,overweight,injury-prone and a mere shadow of his Laker days.

If you guys by some miracle meet the Lake Show in the Finals, Bynum owns the old man and The Spaniard kills the big flick-it. LAKER 3-peat is soon to start, enjoy history in the making.

HAHAH it's the one where Shaq throws a monster dunk on Bynum. Bynum does a soft spin move and dunks back. then bumps shaq and gets socked in the face for it. I watch it all the time.

Expect Bynum to develop more serious knee injuries as the pressure grows in the payoffs. Something about his DNA that makes his knees weak when the heat is on.

    Ha Ha,

kind of like when you see a post that says Paul is not the greatest, or if some one highlights the accomplishments KG because it might make Paul look like a lesser player.
