Doctor (poisoned by) CO, hate to rub it in. Where are your rebuttals that the NFL  started in 1920s? the Packers had 13 championships? All of these from the OFFICIAL NFL web-site, you get anything from the OFFICIAL NFL web-site to back you up?

Your silence is deafening. But I like your attitude, that we should only count the era that matters, like you only count the Super Bowl era. Great call.

"chicken" is only a matter of perspective. I can easily say that you are as chicken, if not more chicken, for having no courage to spank Fierce on his inclusion of the NBL.

If you have beef on the Lakers' 17 championships, you should bash the source, not the messenger...

But knowing that Celtic fans are too wimpy to challenge fellow Celtic fans, even if they screwed up on defending the Celtics, can't blame you on that...

MajicMVP, Why can't you be proud about the success you've had as the second best franchise throughout NBA history?  Show a little humility.  You've won 5 titles to our 1 over the last decade.  You're almost there.  If you win two more before the celts win another you can say that between Minn. and L.A. the Lakers have won the most.  Until then, it's the Canadiens, Celtics, Steelers, and Yankees that all have one thing in common.  And no player thinks that getting to the finals and losing is a consolation for anything (Horseshoes and hand grenades).  If your Lakers ever become the team with the most Championships, this is the knowledge that will become an intuitive gift. You'll say to yourself, "oh, I've known this all along".

Hold it right there! By the time Lakers are going to win another championship the Celtics already got their 18th championship and the LA Clippers would have already won an NBA championship.

WHAT DOES THAT MEAN!! THEN...I think your silence is defening...AND IT SHOWS THAT YOUR OWNED..

THE LAKERS DO NOT HAVE 17 TITLES...in the nba dont have 17 titles...a separate team WITH NO LINIAGE TO THE PRESANT LAKERS WON A TITLE...But then Different people started a different league...BECAUSE WHAT DOES IT SAY WHEN YOU LOOK AT THE LAKERS...16 titles...THE NBA looks at 16..titles...THE NBA NEVER HAD AFFILIATION WITH the nbl......

    AND YOUR OWNED....

After the 1947–48 season, Mikan's Lakers and three other NBL clubs left to join the Basketball Association of America (Rochester, Fort Wayne, and Indianapolis). Stripped of its best teams and prime gate attraction, the NBL lasted only one more season, the Anderson Duffey Packers winning the league's last championship before six of its members were absorbed by the BAA, which changed its name to the National Basketball Association.

SO WHEN YOU LEAVE A LEAGUE..YOU DONT BRING YOUR TITLE WITH YOU AND SAY YOU ALLREADY WON IN THE OTHER LEAGUE....

    YOUR OWNED...

17 NBA Championships...A record 8 in a row from 1959-1966...Three separate Championship eras...When it comes to hanging Championship Banners, the Celtics are the cream of the crop. No organization has won more titles than the 17-time World Champion Boston Celtics. Whether it's the Green's first title in 1957, their 12th in 1974 or the 17th in 2008, the Celtics tradition of winning championships has stood the test of time.

I agree with you that the '50's, especially prior to the shot clock was certainly not comparable to the late '60's, let alone today....but to say the modern NBA begins with Bird and Magic....I can't agree with that at all

also....you are correct....all the old records have been shattered in track and field....but in team sports....at least in baseball and basketball....I feel that the greats would still be doing it today.....again, just my opinion...

The difference between the two arguments (Celtics 22 years vs. Lakers 30 years if they didn't have Riley or Jackson) is the word "if."

"If" Bill Russell never played for the Celtics would they be considered a top franchise in the league? Who cares - he did and they are.

That is why that statement you made is weak.

Re: Lakers universally acclaimed as the NBA'S greatest franchise

    So flobus,

What makes If different than 21 years happening once...

you know both variables are far fetched..

and to judge a worse thing thats farfetched?

    thats weak....

So the anti celtic argument is ok...of they only win titles every 21 or so years. when it happened once..

While with la...the last 30 years la titles have only been won by 2 coaches...Why cant we say a coach not named riley or jackson cant win..because for an amount of time that was true....

or are you going to judge time again
