    Last two possessions

Ray played a huge part on the last two possessions the Celtics had.

Obviously his role in the game winner...drilling the clutch 3... First Ray picks Melo off Pierce causing Douglas to switch.. as Ray slides behind the 3 line, Douglas tries to recover and runs into KGs foot (LOL).. swish!!

    On the KG alley-oop...

KG fakes popping out to take the inbounds pass...Turiaf follows him making the backdoor cut possible...

Then two important things happen..  First, Ray steps into Turiaf, screening him  (more like a linemans block) from following KG on the backdoor...

Second, Douglas was so concerned to stick with Ray that he was almost holding on to Rays back as Ray screened off Turiaf... his preoccupation with Rays ability to shoot kept Douglas from stepping out to impede KGs cut.. which is what Douglas should have done.  Slam!!

Two well executed plays with Ray playing a huge part setting picks...

    Re: Last two possessions

The C's on offense are a bit still stuck in the mud. They are trying very hard though to get back to where they were at early January when the offense was in its prime. The last two possesions were just amazing especially how they expended themselves in the third to just make it a game.

    Re: Last two possessions

That alley to KG is one of their set plays out of timeouts.  It's the second or third time they've used it effectively this season.  NY fell asleep on the defensive switch...

Kind of a good illustration of Doc's effectiveness as a coach.  That's a killer play; no time runs off the clock. Beautiful execution.

    Re: Last two possessions

    That's our Celts.

    The good and bad...
First the bad... old tired legs...

They made Ray unable to corral a pass while on the fly that could have iced it. Ray almost falls down trying to guard Douglas who hits a potential game winning three.

    The good...
    Ray drills the game winner!!!!

Can experience and character overcome those old legs??? YES!!!

    Re: Last two possessions

I am not sure why Melo took the last shot, Douglas was open if you watch the replay.Rondo left him to double team Melo, (I can't understand that, but he was waving at Pierce to cover Douglas). the only problem is Pierce was almost 10ft way. Pierce , in his infinite wisdom kept going back under the rim to block out, 3 beats you Pierce, 2 only ties the game. we got lucky. if Melo had given up the ball to Douglas, there was an even easier shot.
It was one crazy play and we came out on the other end.

You are absolutely correct. Anyone wants to see a video analysis of the play checkout:

The first play in particular is freaking art.

Doc's master stroke is having Ray Allen set the screen on KG, because it removes all possibility of a switch. I mean who in their right mind is going to switch and leave Ray Allen open late in the game?

JO won this game for us. The guy was 6 for 6, 3 blocks, 4 rebounds (3 of them offense) and played interior defense.

JON deserves lots of credit... he put up big time.. gave us a lift when we really needed it.. but Id give MVP of the game to Ray

Ray hit a big 3 pointer in the 3rd qtr that turned the momentum... he made another 3 pt play in the 4th which was huge... Ray was instrumental in KGs alleyoop... making the back pick to stop Turiaf from disrupting KGs backdoor and forcing Douglas to not step out on KGs path..

then of course he hit the game winner...
