[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Let's Start Green Ahead of Ray, Right? : Celtsfan4life, you know I respect you and your posts. Yes, I am having some fun with Rajon. I've learned that he is a good guy having fun on a sports board. He is not attempting to offend anyone.
I am a huge Ray Allen fan. Not only because of his incredible success, but for his personal character. What he did for his son while still focusing on the NBA finals in 2008 should never be forgotten by anyone who celebrated the 2008 championship. On the other hand, I am concerned about Ray's minutes. I can't argue about an injury to Ray from being kneed, since I may have not been aware about the severity of the injury. However, your second point makes my concern real. That is that Ray also did take the responsibility to guard Kobe. That's more evidence that Ray's minutes, as was KG's, should be guarded carefully until, and if, we get into the finals.
I'm my opinion, Ray is as valuable as anyone on this team, if not more valuable. When he's hitting his shots, the court opens up for Paul to do his thing. In addition, it opens up the court for Rondo to be "Rondo". While it is unrealistic that Doc would start Jeff over Ray, I do think the post that suggested the change was sincere. He was not saying that Jeff was better than Ray, he was thinking out of the box with respect to getting more out of Jeff. If Doc can get Jeff more minutes and get him more comfortable and confident, if JON can stay healthy, there is no reason the Celtics bring home #18.
"Good catch" as they say, and thanks for reading my post. You are one of the good guys on the board. I've loved the Celtics all my life as well. Probably to a fault. However, they played a huge role in keeping me from ending up on the wrong side of the tracks during my days as a Southie.

your thread was a jokingly "I told you so" and there are STILL people who think this could be a good idea. I'm truly amazed. Its staggering to think that someone thinks there's ANY logic to starting anyone over Ray Allen. This guy is just a KILLER.
As for CeltsSox assertion that Ray was worn out for carrying us several games in the finals last year.....not true. Ray had two things happen. First was he was kneed in the thigh by Artest (or was it Fisher?). That limited his jumping. The second thing was that each game, he was focused on guarding the top shooting guard in the game (Kobe). Like when Paul guarded Lebron, your offense takes a back seat to the energy you put up stopping the other guy. Note Kobe and Ray BOTH had tough shooting games because they were just both magnificent on defense.
Surely, there are some fans having fun here if you're really trying to present ANY logic for replacing the absolute top shooter in the game with a guy who's struggling. I am not sure I've ever seen a successful approach to fixing a struggling player's game by putting him in the starting lineup and sitting your top shooter.
Hey, youse guyz have single-handledly restoried my fate in mankindist to da fullest xtent . . . an den some!
