Lakers gave Nash 27m for 3 years when Nash was 38 years old.

The Lakers also traded 4 draft picks for Nash.

Now Nash is considering retirement because of his bad back.

That's what you get for investing in someone who can't sit properly.

    Right, GK?

It's a good thing us Celtic fans have Danny Ainge and not Jimmy Buss.

Laker fans can thank Jimmy Buss for making the Lakers irrelevant now and for many years to come.

    Thanks, Jimmy!

If the 5-7 Lakers are irrelevant, what does that make the 4-7 Celtics?

The difference is the Celtics want to be irrelevant this season.

Getting a top 3 or top 5 pick in June is what the Celtics are after.

I don't think the Lakers have any illusions either. Its no secret the team is focused on the 2014 free agents.

I hope they do sign one of those 2014 stiffs, that will set you back worse than the Howard and Nash signings.

Fierce - remember the delirious super team excitement when Howard and Nash were signed?

    Ah well.

Bottom line - the Chris Paul fiasco set the Lakers back at least five years if not a decade

    Carmelo?

    Deng?

    You can have them.

As long as Jimmy Buss is calling the shots for the Lakers, the Lakers will be irrelevant.

2 words best describe Jimmy - TOTALLY INCOMPETENT!

Personally I don't want Carmelo. But despite reports I don't think the team has completely given up on LBJ either.

Can't see James in LA for several reasons:

    1.  can he co-exist with kobe?

    2.  he wants his own legacy, not on the coat tails of Bryant

    3.  CLE has a better core than LAL

    4.  LAL may want James, but I have yet to read a report where he is remotely interested in them........

The core is the big thing. Lebron is in win now mode. Don't see him going to a lakers team with nothing but a very old core.

Also, I would add we have 9 draft picks in the next 5 years. The nets are not looking like a powerhouse team and are only going to get older. The draft picks we have with them are unprotected. We could have two lottery picks a year starting next year. Danny made out like a bandit.

While the Lakers, mortgaged their future on Nash. That team is in trouble.
