NBA CBA and salary cap good or bad?

All this capology stuff sucks. I hate the NBA's soft cap and guaranteed contracts. Gimme the NFL's deal any day of the week.

There's a lot to dislike about the CBA, but the NFL is a joke.  NFL players are chattel -- bound to teams by one-way contracts, but releasable any time for any reason, and don't let the door hit you on the way out.

The NBA has a semi-hard cap.

For example, the Celts used the 5m MLE, that means they can't go over the 74m tax apron.

The Lakers are over the tax apron so they can't use the 5m MLE. They only have the 3m MLE, just like the Heat.

It's not yet July 1 so teams not over the cap can't go over the cap.

That's why it's crap to say that Pierce can be traded to the Cavs for 1st round picks.

well....the Cav's CAN pick for Boston with the trade being made on or after July 1...correct?

not saying it WILL happen, just saying it could be done.

The NFL way is the way it should be.

Players get big contracts and then goof off.

Agree.  Of course many teams would take advantage of this and release players that are underperforming.  Imagine how much easier it would be to rebuild an NBA team if you could just release players that are being overpaid.  It wouldn't be an advantage for any one team but could definitely influence the future success of some teams.
