I don't like us picking Shabazz. He MAY be a Josh Howard at best. We already have Jeff.

    Re: NBAdraft.net's new mock.....discuss!

Shabazz would be my 3rd or fourth realistic choice.  He would have to play shooting guard because he's not even 6'5 in his stocking feet.  He's not a great shooter either - 44% last year.  I sick of these sub-45% shooters being labelled great scorers.  I'm inclined to believe any player in the NBA can score if they are given enough shots.

My first choice would be to try and trade up to grab Zeller - that might not be realistic.  If we could trade our 2013 1st rd. pick and maybe next years 2nd round pick to move up a few places to grab Carter-Williams, that would be my second choice.  If Plumlee is there at 16, I would take him as well.  If Shabazz and Plumlee are both there at 16, I might go with Plumlee.

If they draft Dieng, I'm shutting off the t.v. and walking away.  I don't think Dieng's ceiling is all that high and I absolutely do not want another raw project.  I'm also sick of these 6'11 guys who look so big in college and sit back in the zone defense being called great defenders.

I'm not sold at all on Plumlee, or Shabazz for that matter, but if he slips all the way to 16 I think you need to take him. It's kind of like last year with Sully...you know he's an injury risk, and that's the only reason he fell, but you can't pass it up at that pick.

Either that or you try to trade back and add assets.

I was starting to like Shabazz, until i read about him having Tourette syndrome, a lot of side effects can come from that!!

If they go PG, I wouldn't mind seeing Larkin in Green.

    Draft Analysis

Muhammad’s draft stock has taken a huge hit because it seems like he doesn’t have the high level of athleticism that scouts thought he had in high school. He is definitely a risky pick, but not as risky as some scouts are making him look (some scouts have him falling out of the top 10, even in this weak and star-depleted draft). Most years there is a prospect who puts up good numbers, but has not been all of what scouts wanted them to be (think Andre Drummond, Kenneth Faried, Paul George, Jrue Holliday, etc.). Because of this their stock falls, and they slip into a good situation with a chip on their shoulder. This year, that player might be Muhammad. He is the only player from this draft with the potential to be a 25 PPG scorer. He will probably be drafted in the top 10

Plumlee brings rebounds. A bit heavy on his ankles but could get in the nba game instantly. Lots of good bigs in this draft.

Why not move into the lottery with two picks next year in a mch deeper draft?

Shabazz is a no-brainer at #16, he's still improving and this team needs a scorer.

They would need to find a way to move the excess guards for a Center

especialy IF Pierce is gone. Shabazz COULD BU at SF as well as SG.

But like you said, we already have a glut of 2 guards and at least one needs to go.

    Re: NBAdraft.net's new mock.....discuss!

Shabazz has a great defensive attitude and is a hard worker and athletic, ala Wade and Harden.   Good young player who will only get better.  I love the pick other than the fact that he's not a big man.   But, shooting guard is a huge need and is second only to a center.   Maybe Fab will develop and we'll need the shooting guard more.
