One down one to go.

Anyone who has played even pick up ball, knew Shaq was not going to be a factor this past season. Despite his age and weight, Ainge signed this clown to a two year deal.
Ainge got rid of Perkins with the expectations of Oneil being a factor down the stretch. Once again, Danny was wrong and dealt away a player for nothing in return.
It is time for Danny Ainge to be fired. -

That is interesting given that he was the primary reason they bounced around the top 2 or 3 best records in the eastern conference while he was healthy and he was 2nd in voting for centers for the all-star game. He signed for the veteran minimum. Perk got hurt and Danny needed to get bigger (because Rondo can't shoot) to combat the Lakers length (or at least that was the excused the used when the Lakers controlled the boards by sagging into the paint because they didn't need to guard Rondo), so what did Danny do?
He signed two centers both of whom, in their prime, were vastly superior to Perk on his best days and drum roll please...... better than Perk even well past their primes.
And he got nothing in return other than a 24 year old wing player that with a training camp and a preseason will fit in much better and have a more defined role as they transition away from the big 3 and also got a nice back up center.
One knows not of what one speaks. -

How many games did he play? How many minutes did he play after Feb. 1st? Do you listen to talk radio or go to the games?
If you watch NBA games, you would have seen that Perkins had a far greater post season than Oneil, and helped his team out more than Shaq helped the C's.
It is all about the post season my friend, and anyone who follows sports will tell you that.
When Danny signed Shaq, I knew he would play in the beginning of the season. His age and weight made it easy to tell that he would not finish the season. Shaq has never rushed back from injuries. In fact, he has said that when he gets hurt on company time, he will heal on company times. -

Also dudder, you must be related to Dan Doucette, the former GM of The Red Sox. Your statement reminds me of when he said: : the red sox were in first place longer than any other team".
Just in case you did not hear it the first time, it is all about the post season and Oneil was absent for all of it but a few minutes and two points.
Did you forget about ainge getting rid of Eddie House, he was another good fit for the celtics. How about all the teams he blew up before signing allen and KG.
Speaking of Ray Allen, are you forgetting that Ainge wanted to trade him as well? Sounds like you are a pink hat fan with a short memory. -

You are right that it is all about the post season...Shaq averaged something like 9 points a game ..he made a better cheerleader than anything else. Trading Perkins was a huge mistake...he had a great post season whereas Shaq was a complete non factor. It doesn't matter how well the team did in the fall...if you can't be competitive in the post season..then what's the point? By trading away Perkins...Ainge disrupted the team's chemistry..even the players acknowledge that... -

Even Doc Rivers is on record for saying he wished Danny had waited. Sounds to me like Dudder saw different post season games then the rest of us. -

Except by this point in the playoffs, we'd still be out, Perk would be gearing up to go somewhere else for more money, and we'd have nothing to show for it. You're forgetting all the good players the Sox lost for nothing (Bruce Hurst, Mike Boddiker) by letting them go to free agency.

Posted by jackbuJackbu, maybe you're right about the fact that it was dumb of Danny to rely on a 39 year old huge center to get back on the court. However, your statement that Ainge dealt away a player for nothing in return is just emotional and factually incorrect on multiple levels.Facts: In return for Perk, Danny got Green (a very well respected athletic guy who will help the C's), Kristic (a serviceable back up Center), and a to 10 protected lottery pick (if the Clippers draft any higher than number 10 next year or the year after, we get their pick)! -

The trade was in our favor and the play of our center was not the reason we lost. Danny is very good at his job. Did you watch Perk play? -

we gambled on shaq and we lost. but saying perk had a "great post-season", well that's about a million miles from reality. the truth is that having perk would have made zero difference in the outcome of the heat series. ZERO. those who think differently are just plain wrong. -

I said that Perkins had a better season than Shaq, and he added more to his team than shaq did. In comparsion to Shaq, Perkins did have a great season.
Also look at what the Celtics did in the post season with Perkins, and then look at what they did without him, including game 7 of last season in the finals.
Green did not live up to the expectations of Danny this season. I doubt that he will be a force next season as well.
Without Perkins on the floor, teams had no problem driving to the hole. Teams also messed more with KG without Perkins. All the opposing teams were happy to see Perkins leave.
I am not sure what the sox of 20 years ago has to do with this past Celtics season. Messing with chemistry is not a good thing. Ainge messed with the Celtic's chemistry in a big way this season, just like he tried to do last season by putting Ray Allen on the auction block, and trading Eddie house.
Ainge is never happy unless he blowing up the team. It is time for him to leave. -

Well, how long are you gonna ride that old horse?
Perkins was the worst player of OKC in the post season.
Shaq at the beginning of the season was more of a help than Perk late on the season. -

Perk didn't even play the 4th quarter in most of the playoff games. Your comparing him at 8.5 million per year he signed with Shaq who was playing for the minumum. Also when Shaq was healthy we had the best record in the league including 3 wins over Miami. Perk didn't play any minutes to achieve that record. His playoff performance was pathetic. Dudder is right about that and the fact that we have a guy that with a camp may be an impact player and a draft pick for someone who wouldn't have made a difference in the outcome of the playoffs and walk anyway. He is only worth 4-5 million at most and I think we even offered more then that. Watch if his play does not improve they will end up buying him out in a year.n Response to Re: One down one to go.:I said that Perkins had a better season than Shaq, and he added more to his team than shaq did. How do you equate better season? Perkins was hurt the first half of the year. Shaq the second. Shaq had better numbers than Perkins did this year while playing. That is a fact. Get your head out of the sand with your look at me posts. We got plenty for an overrated 4 and 6 guy. Did you really want Perkins to be the cornerstone of this franchise for the next "X" amount of years? We don't win with him anyway. We hold on until the end of the year and we get what we got for Tony Allen.......ZILCH!! -

You keltic people are too much. First Shaq was your great savior kissing his fat behind, boasting about what a title-winning acquisition he was, and now you've reduced him to a clown. And last year you all whined about how if Perk had been in game 7, the title would have been yours but now you look at Perk as useless and how badly it turned out for OKC. The real useless clowns are the
KELTICS AND THEIR FANS!

You are unwanted interlopers who even with both teams out of the playoffs can't help yourselves. There is no point to what you do. We don't try to disrupt Laker boards. Your team got swept out of the w.c. semi finals, you should be in mourning but you are way too stupid to understand that. You got to know when to fold'um. -

Chill man! These are just a bunch of kids trying to entertain themselves. They will grow up some time. They are having a hard time dealing with the terrible situation of their own team.
