    Kris Humphries.

The Celts won't be able to afford Hump's asking price once he becomes an unrestricted FA.

No way Hump will just want 5m per year when his next contract could be his last big contract.

He will be 29 years old in a few weeks.

The Celts only have until the trade deadline to trade Hump.

Once the regular season is over, Hump becomes an unrestricted FA.

If DA does not get the deal he wants (young talent or late 1st round pick) - then no trade - clear 12-mil in cap space! Win Win for Cs!

    True.

But unfortunately the Celts got Joel Anthony for 2nd round picks.

Absorbing Joel Anthony's contract means the Celts will be burdened with an additional 3.8m next season.

That means the Celts have 48.4m in total salaries for 8 players next season.

The projected salary cap is 62m.

So the Celts will have 13.6m to spend on 5 players, this already includes the 2 1st round picks.

Bottom line is Hump's expiring deal didn't really clear a lot of cap space.

Good points - Hump is kind of a dilema - should he stay or should he go?

Could Kris Humphries be a part of the Boston Celtics long-term plans?

Featured Written by  Nick Solarion January 29th, 2014

Back when Kris Humphries was sent to Boston in mid-July as part of the deal that sent Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Jason Terry out to Brooklyn, many thought nothing of it. In fact, most basketball pundits at the time made the logical assumption that Humphries would have been traded by now.

At the time, their argument carried clout. Humphries was owed $12 million dollars throughout the course of this season - not an ideal contract for someone who found himself buried deep into the bench last season.

But given the chance, Humphries has been able to prove to some that he may actually be worth an extension this offseason.

The 28-year-old big man has benefited from opportunity with Boston, proving he can play time and time again. He has worked his way from an afterthought on Brad Stevens bench to now Boston's starting center, and has played increasingly well.

Humphries is averaging 9.6 points and 11.1 rebounds since becoming a starter on Jan. 8, a toast to his consistency. He gives everything he has on the court every second he’s in, always willing to dive for lose balls or sacrifice his body for a rebound.

And last week, according to Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe, Humphries even implied that he wanted to stay in Boston and sign a new deal.

"I want to be a part of this whole, building this team and doing all that stuff with the new coach and all that, I want to be here," he said.

Though the Celtics lost 114-88 to the Knicks on Tuesday night, Humphries netted another 12 points and grabbed five rebounds in 22 minutes.

At this point, his future in Boston has never looked greater

For the Celts keep Hump, they'd have to give him Ilyasova money, that's 9m per year.

    The Celts can't afford that.

Celts already have Sully and Oly at the PF spot.

I understand your point, but Humphries is one of our best players.

And we are awful as it is.

You said the same thing about Dwight Howard. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Love is going to LA but that is Magic Johnsons favorite team the Clippers. You really must have a complex to feel the need to come on here and try and agitate. Little PP or Mama beat you as a kid?

So what are you trying to say?

    [/QUOTE]

I am trying to say that this team is barely watchable as it is.

Take Humphries away and it becomes even worst.

comments that include expressions like thus and so "ain't gonna happen" are ridiculous

thank god Danny Ainge is GM and not Boston dot com

my expectations for the Celtics rise in inverse proportion to my expectations for Boston dot com prognostications

    That's the objective, right?

    We both want Embiid, right?

    I understand.

I just don't know how much more I can take.

    And I'm a Raiders fan.

Hump won't be back. He's played too well. I like him. Way more than I thought i would. Ainge is too focused on avoiding big longer deals for guys like him...though maybe Danny will offer him a hometown discount. Otherwise I think he's out.

Other than his age, I would rather spend money on Humphries than someone like Bradley or Rondo.
