Pierce continues to shame the Celtics

First it was Doc coming out with the ' they aint beat us at full strength' rubbish and now Pierce continues the embarresment but reiterating the same trash.

Fact is the Lakers won and I like real celtic fans say this....we never beat the Lakers at full strength either in 2008 but the title still says Boston. Move on Doc/Pierce, this stuff is tired!

Even the Lakers would tell you we beat them decisively in 2008. C'mon you are not a Celtic fan and you know it.

The Celtics won by 39 points in the 6th and deciding game of the Finals in 2008. Whether the Lakers were at full strength or not it was a decisive win.

In 2010 the Lakers were trailing 2-3 in the Finals before Perk went down. The Lakers eventually won the series by defeating the Celtics in Game 7 by 4 points. Decisive win by the Lakers? I don't think so.

Re: Pierce continues to shame the Celtics

This is all off the top of my head, so I will be paraphrasing a little:

Jan 20, 1968, in what was billed as the Game of the Century, the undefeated NCAA Champion UCLA Bruins, led by Lew Alcindor, took on the #2 ranked and undefeated Houston Cougars, led by Elvin Hayes.  The game was played at the Astrodome and won by Houston.  It was the only loss of Alcindor's career.

In his book, Giant Steps, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar refused to acknowledge that Houston was the better team and Hayes (39 points and 15 rebounds) was the better player. Kareem instead blamed an eye injury he sustained the week before.  UCLA got revenge later in the year, but that night belonged to the Big E.

In his book, Giant Steps, Kareem recalled how the Celtics beat his Mil Bucs in the playoffs in the early 70's.  THE reason?  " The refs let Dave Cowens, who is white, crawl all over my back, and they never called a foul."

In his book, Giant Steps, Kareem also recalled how the Portland Trail Blazers "beat" the lakers one year in the playoffs.  "We didn't really lose, the refs were looking for a new hero, and it was Bill Walton, who is white.  They let him get away with murder on me, because he was the new white hero, and that's why we lost."

Yet, I hear NO ONE saying how this man is an embarassment to the Bucs, lakers, UCLA or people of color..........................seems Kareem was setting the stage for future (2008) lakers excuses (Bynum was hurt), instead of owning up to the fact that you are not always the best.........................strange people these lakers fans.

wow.....I remember watching the UCLA/Houston game vividly.....also, our win against Kareem's Bucks (just before my wedding I might add)......I never read his books so this is news to me.....if this isn't racist I don't know what is.....Kareem was an all time great player....not sure what I think of him as a man....I've never met him (well, except for sitting in the front row at the old Garden....we were about three feet from one another that afternoon)....I don't know the man so I cannot judge him....and it is not my place to pass judgement on anyone anyway...

I don't mean to imply I am passing judgement, either.  I am merely stating that Doc and Paul Pierce are not the only ones to say ridiculous things after losing a heart breaker. Bill Walton still talks about "the darkest day in my life" as Notre Dame ending his 88 game win streak.  Of course, I think he says they were the better team that day!!

2008- Boston wins.
2010- L.A wins.

Everything else is pure dross. It's not the margin that counts, it's the win! Would Doc and co have cared if they had won by a point in 2010? No!

So Pierce should keep his trap shut, it's not enough he said 'we aint coming back to L.A' and got burnt. Maybe he should be training hard to balance the ledger against Artest.

Paul Pierce is not the first, nor will he be the last, to say stupid things after an emotional loss (or win).  You are making it sound like he is the only one who has ever done this.  I would rather have him SAY stupid things anyway, than, oh, I don't know:
run into the stands and beat people up
get a DUI
have the cops called for Domestic Abuse
have extremely questionable behavior while on the road
openly question who starts (Farmar)
throw his teammates under the bus

you make it sound like he is eternally "darned" for daring to say he thinks his team could beat the lakers.......wow - a little over the top there Kev?
Kareem was an all time great player....not sure what I think of him as a man....
Well, it's pretty obvious what the (post Kareem's player career) league has thought of him as a person.  Kareem has mumbled and grumbled for the last 15 years about not being offered any jobs- coaching or otherwise.  Even middling players and personalities are generally found on coaching staffs or as specialist coaches (big man would be a good coach position for Kareem).

The reason why Kareem's been nowhere to find other than a few short stints as big man coach the last couple of years is that he was and remains a Grade A corn hole.  Heck of a player but a jerk.  That's been known for a long time.  And his book Giant Steps seems to confirm that he is not only that but an outright racist.  Nice!

No one's asking you to praise the Lakers but just to recognize the facts. They won 2010, thats it. No one cares about 'they never beat us at full strength'. Perhaps this why the Lakers have won 5 championships in the last 10 years.....they just get on with it.

The Celtic organization too often looks backwards, for once look forward and win 18. Duh.

YAWN

Perk and Bynum do cancel out, I don't ever use that BS

However the refs handed LA game 7, their own fans expected them to lose based on their reactions to the game in the 2nd half, good guys went up 13 and then the refs took over the game

It took a MASSIVE FT discrepancy (in 5 of the 7 games, LA took more in all 7) and cold shooting from one of the best shooters EVER (in all but 1 game) for LA to hang on and beat Boston by 4 AT HOME

LA was dismantled in '08, CRUSHED in game 7

KG's injury allowed them to avoid losing in '09

then the refs and Ray's cold spell allowed them to win in '10, byt FOUR, at home

Too bad for the good guys

You don't bring shame to an organisation or to an employer. You bring shame to YOURSELF if you carry on like a twit.

Pierce carry's on a little like ML Carr (remember him going on in 1984 how the Celtics would be BACK in L.A?). It's part of Pierces personality and if that' the worst part of the personality then I don't think he has much to worry about.

As for athletes making excuses. People have always made excuses when they or their team haven't lived up to their expectations. It's human nature to blame something else rather than look at why they didn't achieve their goals.

Re: Pierce continues to shame the Celtics

Nobody but maybe a few gremlins give a rat's behind what the score was when the Lakers won their 5th title over the decade. That's 5 to Boston's 1.

Some ignorant Boston fans keep harping on the free throw discrepancy. Did it ever occur to these few gremlins that just maybe the Celtics got tired by the 4th quarter, which was their bad habit all season long, and began to reach and grab in their desperation, causing the increase in whistles against them!

This is why Boston keep getting beat throughout the season, giving up huge leads. The core players for the Celtics are OLD!

As for Perkins being injured was yet another "lucky" outcome for the lakers, according to these same whiney gremlins. History shows that when a critical player gets hurt, the following game players come together and play out of their minds. That's what spurred the Celts.

In fact, had Perkins not gotten hurt, the score would have been much different, and not to the benefit of Boston. Rasheed found the fountain of youth for one critical game but it wasn't enough. So those Boston ostriches, keep sticking your heads in the sand because every time you pull your head out of your delusional sand, heh listen closlely. I'll whisper it to you---The LAKERS WON! That's right. The Lakers WON!
