he's OLD! he should be traded or coming off the bench. green should start. and there's no way that he should have been guarding korver. that's doc's fault. this team sucks.

Hard to be the 1st on that bandwagon. You'll be painted as a traitor or a troll. Stay the course because you are correct and the real trolls will be exposed.

I think we held on to PP for a bit too long past his sell-by date. Guess we're paying the price for misplaced sentiment.

danny did exactly what he said he wouldn't do: hold onto his aging stars too long. he's repeated the mistake we made with the original big 3. -

Pierce isnt done... he just needs to play limited minutes and come off the bench.. If the C"s had a good coach, we might have seen it happen long ago

Doc has done a very poor job handling any of the Big 3 regarding their PT or changing roles as the years have passed them and the franchise by.
RA bolted after being flogged to death by way too much playing time the last few seasons... and CPP and KG are obviously wearing out at this point too.
They may not want to hear it but doc needs the courage to tell them that their PT will be managed tightly from here on out... win, lose or draw.
Never too late to change coaching strategies but we are getting very close.
Otherwise, doc is a dead duck short-timer.

PP did lose this game and Doc is also to blame. Pierce is not done he needs to come off the bench and play 20 or so for now Green needs to play 30+ and start. At this point we are like a family or business group that is at a crossroads dealing with a habit was once a great character point that has tipped to a dibilitating habit that needs an intervention. Pierce is a hall of famer, Doc is a very good coach,Pierce is the only player who has been with Doc since day one, players respect and like Doc this bond and unity that was once the core asset of this team has become it's biggest inhibator. PP is the abuser,Doc the enabler and the unity and devotion of the unit has become the enabler that has been accepting blame for faults that our not theirs and apologizing far acts they have not committed deflecting blame for those who deserve it who, for at least for now are refutiating accounability and denying the results of their recent actions by both the abuser and enabler out of percieved obligation to the unit. This now at crisis point to either try to look in the mirror with candid reflection and choose to accept your recent digressions and go forward or to cling to the rationizations of said regressive habit and fall further into the abyss of decline and spiraling failure.

Maybe PP's recent struggles have more to do with worrying about being traded than being old or wearing down. Maybe he has heard and knows a lot more than we do. it happened to ray. He struggled as the trade deadline approached.
just a thought

I understand why Ainge held on to Pierce given our conference finals appearance last year, but we're in a tough spot now. Yeah Pierce can come off the bench but not for a real good team, unless Jeff Green plays great. I think right now Doc has to start Green and have Pierce come off the bench. Cries for Pierce to be traded are not sensible, we wouldn't get much for him at this point. I'd rather see Doc start Green immediately, have Pierce off the bench immediately, and either it will work, or one of them will boost their trade value (hopefully), facilitating a deadline trade.
At this point Doc needs to take a chance on the young guys, it's not about accumulating wins at this point.
Pud I agree with your post, except:
"Otherwise, doc is a dead duck short-timer."
Right now Doc has Ainge's full confidence. it's too bad as it would be better if Doc was on the hot seat and willing to take some major risks. But I don't think he is. He's also got a big long term deal the Celts are not likely to swallow.
But yeah, Doc needs to change his coaching style, we need to see what we have prior to this deadline.

I agree........PP should be our 6th man........let JG get much needed playing time with AB and RR.........at least we might get some easy hoops..........give RR someone to run with.......I truly hope that the free agent this summer is a good one and that KG and PP decide to call it a day.......PP just doesn't have the mindset anymore as can be seen by his many blunders down the stretch trying to do what he did in his youth not realizing that what his mind says and what his body says are now 2 different things........a good example was the last 2 plays of the Knicks game where he 1) dribbled into a double team (triple if you count the sideline) and 2) when he took his eye off the pass knowing that he had to make a move fast because he is too slow

good post Spank.........Doc is a veteran players coach and he has given it a try but now must come to the realization that PP just doesn't have what he had to make him great........he is operating at 70=-80% which in todays day make you a good player not a great player.....youth and athleticism has taken over the game......you can see that in LA and also Boston.......some people say look at the Spurs but I give them props because they have found a way to blend youth along with their aged warriors .........whether it be our scouts prior to the draft........Docs reluctance to give youth the experience necessary to succeed or maybe even the practice they need........I never understood why there is no practice for at least the youngsters of our team after back to backs or long travel time.......Doc always says they are not ready but he is not getting ready by not practicing and then when he puts them in the game he says he can't keep them in because they don[t know where they should be on the plays.............what does he expect....... -

I missed this. Why would OKC want Pierce? Kevin Martin is playing great. Pierce isn't defending or scoring and they are going to give us a lottery pick AND Kevin Martin for him?

Last night's game was maddening. The second unit played their best ever this year in the first half. Running up and down and finding the open man. Lee, Green, and Terry--all firing on all cylinders. Atlanta couldn't buy a basket.
THEN Doc puts in the first unit and the lead starts to fade to about 19 at the half. Celtics won't/can't/don't play the full 48 full-throttle. They used to be the best at closing out close games. NO LONGER. No killer instinct. The chemistry within the team seems pretty bad!
