    Pierce looks out of shape

He did the same thing in 99. He was out of shape then too.

He looks OLD!  Those moves he was trying are old man moves.  I recognize them from the geezers in the rec league!

Pierce has lost a step.  The pump fake, step back doesnt work anymore.  He may or may not be out of shape, but he isn't 100%.

He is old and just can't sustain a consistently high level of performance night in night out, especially with a schedule like this one. Are people being unrealistic with their expectations? And please don't use Ray Ray as a benchmark - he's been brilliant on the offensive front but is the exception not the norm.

" Players like Pierce are not allowed to have off nights?"

Yes they are, and so is Rondo as well.

Re: Pierce looks out of shape

At this point in his career he had to know that the extra off season was an opportunity for him to get his body into better condition, not to let it go soft.  It's not easy to shock your body into shape at his age and he'll likely be battling little injuries all year as a result and never get the chance to get into really good shape.  Ray knew this.

Pierce began to loose his legs the year they won it, and they've been gone now for a couple of years.  Not wanting to come down on Pierce but 15 or 17 million (whatever it is) for him for the next two years is going to hurt this team.  And I remeber how at the time, in his mind he was taking a pay cut, and doing something honorable for the team.  What a joke.  Not only did that money provide most of the wasted money on JON for one of his two years, it extended Pierce for the kind of money he wouldn't get from anybody for 2012, 2013, 2014.  He'll be getting payed the same as or more than Lebron over this period (pretty sure about this).

Pierce has been rounding into form especially in the last 5 games.   He is playing better.  His legs seem more under him.  His scoring is up.  Also the team is finally at the 500 mark.  He will be fine by the end of the year and this early slump will mean nothing.

Agree that Paul is finally getting into basketball shape.  It is definitely evident that he wasn't in shape to begin the season.  I even heard many discussions on the local stations that Paul and KG both weren't in shape to begin the season.  This won't happen again since we won't have another shortened pre-season.  KG may retire after this season so we won't even discussing his conditioning any longer.   I believe that both of them weren't in shape to begin the season, which is very disappointing.   They are veterans and know what is required to stay in shape.
