Pop is the best coach in the league.  Whats your point?

Its also easier to play those players when they were first round picks vs players who played in China 90 days ago!

    Re: Pop vs Doc

Pop also knows he has some aging vets on his team and they need breaks here and there... the same as he managed them during the season. He allowed his bench into the flow of games during the season, they are comfortable in the game and know their roles. He builds teams...

Players being involved elevates their mental state...

Also, seems like over the years the Spurs dont have such deep valleys during their season.. POp has developed a system that works and prolonged the high level of play of their Big 3 imo.

I dont get the headline Pop vs Doc..   thats like Tyson vs Pee Wee Herman

Sorry Kirk,  Doc was born that way,  it wasn't a choice.  I support him in his efforts and knowledge of the game compared to yours.   You really don't get it do you?

Poor Pop was born that way too... and he has 4 rings and a .681 regular season record over 17 years.

I'd have to choose Pop if I had a choice.

    But I don't.

Maybe things would be different if I were hatched instead.

Yep. Everyone knows tht Pop is thought of as the best coach in the NBA. But apparently he doesn't work for the Celtics.  So...

I think you lack reading comprehension.

I said Pop is the best coach in the NBA and he works for the Spurs so...

Where do you read "love" into that?

love is blind meaning many fans on this thread are still giving Doc high ratings despite his terrible coaching this year. get it?

Tom Thibodeau only went 8 players deep.

Marc Jackson only went 8 players deep.

Eric Spoelstra only went 9 deep.

Most coaches shorten the rotation.  None of them have three guys from China who have joined the team 90 days ago or so.

    Re: Pop vs Doc

Pop is better than Doc, absolutely. He's also better than every other coach in the NBA. I fail to see how this insight helps us.

IMO Rivers is a top five coach (outer edge of top 5, maybe top 10).

Yes, Doc did overplay Pierce and KG this year.

It's also not Doc's fault Rondo is out for the year, or that Bradley is playing horrible, or that Tony Parker is in his prime...

The Spurs also were not in the conference finals last year. We were.

No shame in being outcoached by Pop, sorry.

I'll give you this: I wouldn't want Doc as the coach of a young, rebuilding team.

However for attracting quality veterans to our team he's a real asset.

So, the offseason will be interesting. For now time to root for more upsets over the Knicks!

and enjoy the total silence from the Laker troll brigade

How's that short rotation working our for us?

What's makes you think the longer roatation is the answer?  Do you really think the great Wilcox will save us?

Good point.  Sometimes fans want to make it about effort and pride and coaching and everything except we don't have young players who can match up.   In this case, our players just aren't as good at shooting.   We don't have a younger Pierce, a younger Garnett, a younger Terry, etc.   We have Bradley getting his butt kicked, Bass the waste, and Pierce who gets the ball taken from him every other possession.

But wait, if Doc would only shoot for them, dribble for them, or substitute Wilcox and other scrubs, then we'd beat the Knicks!!!!

Pop is proactive.  Doc is reactive.

And this thead, like most of the threads written onthefrontburner at the end of a disappointing season, should be inactive.
