PP Love ... Trade idea for Pierce from Mr. Simmons

    http://espn.go.com/espnradio/grantland/player?id=9392635

If you're bored ... here's a great BS report 100% focused on the Celtics, Doc and this trade idea.

Burried 44 minutes in, Simmons discusses the strange phenominon of the lack of interest in Paul Pierce. Paul single handedly carried the Celtics into the playoffs after Rondo went down with somethig like 19-6-6 for the season. With a 1 year deal, you can't really say that the 15M is overpaying for the captain. He could be extremely useful and productive playing for a franchise that desperately needs veteran leadership, wouldn't ask for him to be a number 1 option but wouldn't necessaily demote him to a Ray-Allen type role yet, and also wants to keep the door open for next summers free agents...

... enter Cavaliers. Bill thinks that its not a huge stretch for the Cav's to offer the number one pick for PP. Paul could lead that young team into the playoffs, giving their stars much needed experience and it would still leave the door open for a possible Lebron James return in the future. Cav's don't really need the four picks it has in this *weak* draft. Celtics trading Pierce for Noel would be amazing. Noels injured, so he RR and JS can take a slow recovery while the Celtics led by DeAndre can lead the league in losses and aim for Wiggins next year...

Very interesting.  The Celtics definitely could use Noel when he is healthy.  In addition to the fact that he is from Massachusetts and I would imagine would love to play for the Celtics.  Even though, I don't think it would happen.

scratch that .... listening more to the pod cast, apparently there are HUGE red flags regarding Noel including injury history but more imporantly he's blowing off meetings with agents and is run by a group of thugs and nobody really wants to touch him. Simmons thinks its likely he slips from #1...

More on the trade ... possibly trading Pierce to the Cav's for the 31 and 33 picks with a trade exception which is used in conjunction with Avery Bradley or Eric Bledsoe with ATL to S&T Josh Smith...

    Next  year roster:

    Rondo, Williams

    Bradley, Lee, Terry

    Green

    Smith, Bass

    Jordan, Sullinger, Melo

    AND picks: 16, 31, 33

AND future additional 1st round pick in 2014

    1. The Cavs could get ALOT more than PP for the number 1 pick. Ain't gonna happen.

    2. Trading our 2 best players for key rebuilding assets... it doesn't make any sense to trade for Jordon, then trade for Noel, redundant players.

    3. Speaking of redundant, Bledsoe is a starting PG.  If we get him, then Rondo will be traded (at some point) since Rondo at PG vs Bledsoe at PG WITH another Allstar (via Rondo trade) on the roster is a no brainer.

    4.  We will draft a SG.

    5.  Bradley will be the perfect 6th man.

No way, the Cavs are going to fine a way to match PP's 15-16 million contract and give up the number one pick? Can't see this.

I could see the #19 pick for Pierce.

that would make more sense..but won't Cleveland ahve to send other contracts back to Boston?

or can they take on Pierce's deal if they are under the cap enough?

They would trade a trade exemption which the Celtics could use for Smith.
