Question to those in favor of tanking this season?

What do you hope to get from next year's draft?

As I've mentioned before, the top four picks are small forwards and power forwards.  We have young, talented small forwards and power forwards already- Green, Sully, KO.  We also have one of the best point guards in Rondo.  As great as next year's draft will be, it's not the greatest as far as number of quality big men (perhaps the C's biggest need considering how slowly Melo has been coming along)

I realize Wiggins is special.  And if we were fortunate enough to get him, we could trade Green.  But pardon me if I'm not in such a big hurry to do that.  Green was a top 5 pick himself not too long ago.  The guys who went ahead of him were all huge prospects.  Green's been playing great, and he's also happy as a Celtic.  Just like Sully.

I hope the C's compete with what they have.  And forget about the draft.  This should be an exciting season.  Nothing's worse than tanking and then getting screwed over by bad lottery ball luck- which always seems to happen to those who purposely tank.

Celts will compete, especially if Rondo plays in November.

It's after the trade deadline that the Celts will start to tank.

Won't that mean that the kings, bobcats, 76ers and whoever else will be half a season ahead of us in the tank frenzy?

Yes, but even if the Celts don't tank from November up to February, there's no way the Celts will have a winning record by the trade deadline.

The problem is if Rondo is already playing by November. With Rondo on the court, the Celts will be competitive.

Competitive in being under .500.  They will not have a winning record with Rondo.

You do realize that a draft pick can also be traded right? And that's how KG and Ray got here in the first place, via savvy drafting that was traded for assets.

Free agents don't want to be here. It's lottery or bust.

Ainge will watch the team and make sure we don't have too much talent. If so he'll trade it. Lottery time...I guarantee it. :)

and it's not just about next years draft. the C's have 2 picks in 4 of the next 5 years and can also swap with what should be a bad nets team in 2017. when you can't get big name FA's wo sign on you've got to do a good job drafting. can't expect DA to pull off another KG/RA type miracle.
