Rondo is the 21st century Bob Cousy. They were both the best pure passing PG in the league in their primes.
They are both 6'1" and 175lbs
Cooz in was an 18.4/7.5/5.2 for his career shooting 37.5%/80% FT's.
Rondo is a 10.8/8.1/4.4 for his career shooting 48%/62% FT's
There was no 3 point line of course for Cousy but we can assume he wouldn't have been much better than Rondo (24%) if there was. What Rondo gives up at the line he almost makes up for overall in the field.
Once the big 3 are gone I see Rondo as an 18 point per game player -

I can swallow this one a lot easier than I can the magic post. -

Finally someone agrees with me on the Rondo=Cooz comparison!
How bout McGee=Russell? More of a stretch but has there been anyone that comes closer to Russell this early in their career than McGee sans the BB IQ? -

Rondo's game is much more Cousy than Magic. No doubt. -

Of course,
but...
Wouldn't you love to see RR w wings like Worthy, Wilkes, or Cooper. Maybe we get some guys who can scoot for next year? I'd love to see this guy on full- tilt boogie. -

" Shhhh...danny might try to sign them."LMAO - so true. :)As for the Cousy comparison, right on - that's FAR more accurate than the Magic comparison which was insane -

All i have to say is, its going to be INSANE to see Rondo RUN with players next yr..we get him a team similar to memphis? unstoppable. idk how many times ive seen rondo run for a break then have to slow down and wait for his guys, frustrating. first off, we get Jeff Green back, probably Wilcox as well. then we sign some more..look out. -

Yeah I want to trade up both picks for an impact guy in the draft in that 10-15 range, get a guy like Jason Thompson who can run with Rondo and play both PF-C, see Green and Avery flourish and who knows, possibly use Ray or Bass in a sign and trade to add another solid young player -

Yeah, the more I think about it, it's best to cash in on Bass when his value is sure to get us a good return ... I didn't want to part with him but now I can see the possibility of him bringing us another major piece to the puzzle and I'm OK with that should Ainge get an offer he can't refuse.
