[QUOTE]In Response to Rivers blames himself for Ray leaving.....says he told Rondo to take charge : Wrong. Ray wanted to leave because he didn't like Rondo at all. Not because Rondo didn't throw him the ball enough. Rondo's eccentric and weird personality was the reason that Ray signed for half the money in Miami.

I would say that one of the two definitely needs to go.

Kudos to Doc for stepping up and being the leader. He did what's best for the team and no one can fault him for that. It was RA's job to be professional. In the end he couldn't deal with it and moved on.

Leaving isn't the bad part, it's WHERE he went is what creates the problem.

How many touches did RA want? He couldn't handle the ball. Rondo assist to turnover ratio was sick, so RA was only looking for what helped RA.

    We'll see him 10/30

Re: Rivers blames himself for Ray leaving.....says he told Rondo to take charge

who cares why ray left, he was old, a turnover waiting to happen any time he put the ball on the floor and coming off of his third ankle surgery.  good luck to miami trying to trick the bodies of mike miller and ray allen into contributing.

when our offense came down to ray running quadruple curls for a 3, it really became boring.  the honest truth is that doc played ray too many minutes for years and years.  simply put, we used him up, to the tune of a WHOLE EXTRA SEASON PLAYED of minutes in the last four years!

i mean look at what ray played- on double repaired ankles- solid 35 a night x 82-100 games x 4 years.  he SHOULD have been playing 28-30 mins a night IF we wanted to keep him fresh for the playoffs, which we didn't.  every year he went into a funk the likes of which was never seen in the regular season and that's called running out of gas.

do the math yourself.  6 minutes too much a night x 4 years x 90 games avg played per year = over 2,000 minutes that ray should have had rest time.  we got every last drop out of ray allen that we possibly could have.  let him move on.  and who cares.

rondo is not my favorite personality but when it comes to running the offense, he does a good job most of the time when he is not in passive mode.  a steady diet of ANY ONE THING and that includes too much ray jumpers, too much pierce 1 on 1, too many KG jumpers is no good for the individual or the team.  ray did not seem to be able to get over the fact that he was not a 18 shot a night guy any more.

wait till you see how many shots a night he gets in miami.  it won't pass for half of 18

I agree.  The one that needs to go is the whiny one who is pushing 40.  Obviously.

I'm far less impressed with the way doc handles pro players.

Where were the grown ups when things were deteriorating so badly between Rondo and Ray?

Where was management or did they simply close their eyes and let relationships run amuck?

    And what happened to UBUNTU?

Who's next? When CPP's play no longer meets R9R's high standard, what happens then? CPP gets Rondo'd while management washes their hands?

The issue is not Rondo "being told" to run the team. You'd expect a PG to do that without even being "told," assuming that he has sufficient maturity/sack to do so.

The larger issue is who takes responsibility for keeping Rondo's head screwed on straight so that he doesn't plunge the team into the ditch when he takes a mind to do so.

If that person is doc... then doc is way over his head.

It's Rondo's team because Doc says so. In over his head! keep hating on Rondo and see how you look next season (or last season)...jeesh; you're objective like China's a free country.

Yes, his turnover # was incredible! The incredible amount of 1 (one!) in last years post season. That really killed us in the end.

Doc's taking one for the team and specifically rondo on this one. As a true leader would.

Ray wanted to play golf and ride the coattails of a defending championship team. Hes a sellout. He left becuz he didnt get along with ONE player, then hes unproffesional and selfish. Most of us dont get along with a FEW people in our workplace or prior sports teams. Thats not a good enough reason  to leave all your OTHER TEAMMATES ON THE TEAM.  Very unceltic like.
