Re: Rivers to the Clippers for draft picks?

Call me a Monday morning quarterback but I wished KG had waived his no trade & he and PP went to the Clippers last season.

So, if Doc goes too I will root for the Clippers as I always have as being a Boston fan, I have always hated the Lakers but living in SF, there is a rivalry between sports teams here and LA almost like Boston & NY.  KG & PP, 2 HOF, might get another ring and can retire in LA LA land. I will enjoy seeing the Clippers beat the Lakers and frankly I still associate them more with their roots in San Diego than LA. As I only go to New England a couple of times per year to see family, selfishly perhaps, I can get to see KG,PP & Doc out here in travels on the West Coast. So, would love to see it happen & build our team with youth. I cite the GS Warriors who gave the Spurs a scare with a starting 5 aged 23 years old.

Hell no, root for them to go 0-82.

Don't expect it to  happen, though. Coaches don't get traded. At least, I don't recall it ever happening in the NBA.

    Bingo!

Some here want to write their own dictionary and make the word "trade" mean getting compensation.

In sports deals aren't the terms trade and compensation interchangeable?

At this point who really cares? If ESPN's report is true and there is mutual interest between Doc & the Clipp's then I'm through with him. He's a good coach but not a great one and I'm tired of all his "I have to be close to my family in ORL" crap because I don't think he'll be back on the east coast that much if he's stuck in LA traffic on his way to Staples every night!

Rivers, KG, and Pierce for Bledsoe, Jordan, and a couple of first round picks.

    Please let it happen.

    No, they aren't.

In the NBA, there are rules regarding trades.

If you say the Clippers will trade a 1st round pick for Doc Rivers, that's circumventing the salary cap rules. The NBA will not approve a trade like that.

The right way to do it is the Clips ask permission to talk to Rivers first. If Rivers and the Clips  reach an agreement, that's the time the Clips give the Celts compensation for the release of Doc Rivers from his existing contract with the Celts.

    Fierce

You "trade" two draft picks to me and for "compensation" I'll send you Doc.

PP & KG for Jordan, Bledsoe, Butler, Crawford and Clipps only okay deal with condition of getting to talk to Doc and C's letting him out of his contract?

One bigger reason Doc might step down is for more family time - in Orlando, not LA. Pure foolish speculation from the Left Coast.

Stick to the issue. My question has nothing to do with whether a deal is legal or not or if a trade for a coach has ever been made.
