Rondo for Nash. (with assorted pieces)

Don't usually post these trade proposals but what the hell.  Please Rondo bashers relax (he looked great today).  Nothing against Rajon but here me out.  In an effort to solidify our 2 year championship window and in light of Suns sadly beginning to view Nash in a Ray Bourque kind of light.  Rumors starting to trickle out about the Suns moving Nash (and maybe some love for Grant Hill too??).  They would look great in green for our 2 year run.  I was playing in the trade machine and there are numerous scenarios that would work.

Nash/Hill/Robin Lopez (not sure the Suns would give him up-but hey Rondo is young and has a friendly contract) for Rondo, Baby and J. O'Neal.

Rondo has played great and has shown improvement in well documented areas that needed improvement (jump shot, FT%) but in 2 years he will be playing with slop and scrubs and probably get moved for building blocks anyway.  Let they young man move West and run in the Valley of the Sun.  Also the guy takes it so hard to the hole that I fear he may not get back up one of these times.

Nash and Hill are professionals and would fit in right away.  Hill could do spurts at PG.  Opposing defenses would have to respect Nash and there would be no doubles on Ray/Pierce or collapsing down low.

Don't know what the Suns thought process is these days but rumors are starting to swirl about Nash and I would presume they would be willing to give Hill a shot at a ring (although he may not want to move to get one).  Getting Lopez would be sweet.  There were other deals that worked and much of this is contigent on how much the Suns would help out a few old timers looking for a ring.

ONLY 17 MONTHS LEFT TO GRAB UP 2 MORE BANNERS!!!!

Nash is 38yrs old heading for retirement. Rondo is just entering his prime as one of the best point guard in the league.  Is like trading Shaq for D.Howard.  So think before you post.

Nash is 36.  And EVERYBODY is retiring in 2 years and then it is over.

Dumb post. Rondo has his problems, but his basketball is yet to come. Just wait and see. Eventually, he'll learn to improve the holes in his game and be even better.

All this talk about the doubling down on Ray and Pierce is overrated!!!!  And to trade Rondo for Nash is straight up stupid and a stupid idea.  Hill alread gave the thumbs down to boston so it's no need to keep bringing his name up and the Suns aren't going to give up Lopez.

There is absolutely no need for any trades!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Stop it already!!!!!!!!!!!

Listen all these trade proposals are stupid and much of the chatter on this board is pointless.  Do I think that trade will ever happen?  Hell No!  But we come here to discuss basketball.

I think the Celts do need another big-you can't assume that O'Neal and O'Neil will suddenly get healthy for the playoffs.  If you do you are in the same situation as last year (Spurs and Lakers are both big up front).

And if the Rondo for Nash deal is such steal for the Suns-why wouldn't they part with Lopez?  Lopez isn't locked in to long term deal.  Gotta give up something for a young star point guard whose best years are ahead of him.  Incidentally-are you proposing he gains instead of loses a step because in 2 years he ain't running with Paul and Ray.

Doubling down is overrated?  Rondo made the open looks today and made the Magic pay.  Lakers exploited his weaknesses silly in the playoffs last year.

If one looks at the prospects for the post-Big3 Celtics, Rondo, Perk and Baby are very important building blocks. I can't see Danny trading any  of them.

Baby and Perk aren't signed beyond this year and would bet they don't get long term deals from the C's.  Baby is a clown-he won't be back.  Perk may be looking for a dumb team to overpay-and someone will.

Agreed, very dumb post. Whether Nash is 36 or 38, he's too old too bring in using Rondo in a trade. Sure for two years great, but Rondo is already fine at PG. We don't need another and Nash wouldn't come here to play back-up to Rondo. Trade Rondo for Nash and in two years the big three are possibly retired, now you've got to go out and draft another point gaurd to groom for the future.
If there is a transition once the big three nucleus is retired you'll need Rondo to help with the transition for the future.

Hey these trades are fun to think about but,  think this one is a bad idea. Besides the fact that Nash is getting a bit long in the tooth the guy is a defensive liability.

Also, While most teams run pretty similar stuff, Rondo knows the tendencies of pierce and Allen and Garnett. Where they like the ball etc..  When it is better to go one way for a given circumstance over another. Nash would learn quick, but chemistry takes time to build. We know we have it with Rondo, why experiment with it in the middle of the season with Nash? Not to mention Rondo is future of the team. He is the reason veteran players might be willing to come to Boston when the big three are done. Because what great scorer doesn't want to play with a pass happy PG?

Nash could be gotten for a lot less.  You would never have to give up Rondo for him.  And Nash would never want to play back up point.

If your aim is to rejuvinate a struggling Phoenix franchise, giving them Rondo would do it.  They'd have a young all-star PG to build around.  Right now they're in trouble, but that would inject new life into that franchise.

This is just ridiculous. This is not the time to trade Rondo. It's time to trade some of the bit pieces the C's have not any of the core players. We're talking about getting a backup SF.

This idea isn't the answer. This is a panic move. We don't need a panic move but we do need a move.

I don't think we need a move, yet - gotta find out more on Daniels, then we can decide that, but we don't have the pieces to make any trades at any rate so I'd let that go. The Celtics spare parts are not attractive to other teams.

Daniels will be out at least a month. Right now the Celtics only have Von Wafer to back up Pierce and Ray. That's why the Celtics need to make a move.

Quis is out 1-2 months. Because he's had issues with his back before. Trust me the C's will not put him back on the court for awhile if at all the rest of the regular season.
