Boston Celtics guard Rajon Rondo's surgery Wednesday to repair the torn ACL in his right knee was a success, team president Danny Ainge told The Boston Globe.

The surgery was performed in Florida by reknowned orthopedist Dr. James Andrews, according to a tweet by the Globe's Baxter Holmes.

 Rondo is expected to be out up to six months after the surgery.

He suffered the torn ACL in the fourth quarter of a Jan. 25 loss to the Atlanta Hawks.

Yahoo! Sports' Marc J. Spears previously had reported that Rondo spoke to multiple doctors before settling on Andrews to do surgery.

 Rondo will not be at the All-Star Game this weekend in Houston because he won't be able to travel so soon after surgery, Spears added.

He's supposed to be the best.

Post-surgical work that will begin soon is the most critical and difficult determinent of how far he can return.  Physical therapy could start as early as two weeks after the surgery with some manipulation by a therapist much sooner than that.  Keeping adhesions from forming is the first step, and any local pain is from the incision.  As that heals, he'll be able to increase his activity.  

Work hard, get results.  Like anything else.
