I cannot continue this conversation.   Jackson is TWO ahead of Red, genius.  Wow, talk about not knowing what you are talking about.  But, Red retired at 48, stayed with the team, and we won the next two under Russ (3 years).  Phil is about 67, and is now doing Audi commercials.

Go Clips!!  I know, you hope they are better than the lakers, you've been a fan for years!!  You have been schooled, go away now!!

    Greeneater,
You probably know Red retired before he was fifty.  Choosing to assemble seven more championship teams as a gm and part owner.  While your boy Phil moved from one place to another for a team with personnel that could win.

There is no comparison even for a greeneater. Red was the greatest coach, gm and leader in sports in history.

    Red russ,
Like minds think alike. We responded for Red Auerbach at the exact same time.

No, only in clover land is Red better.  Everyone in or who follows the NBA knows PJ is the best of all time.  It's ironic that not one other person showed up in Laker land that was able to produce championships.  I can understand there is no love loss for PJ in Clover land because he filleted the Celtics many times.  Enjoy your day!

First off, thats not ironic.. use dictionary

Second, Id have to agree with those classifying Red above PJ. Red built his teams, coached them and made champions of them.  He delegated his coaching to Russ at what, age 48?? Talk about leadership!!

Phil has had a great career, no question. Piled up lots of titles. Only he hasnt displayed the entire package... Phil inherited championship quality teams with usually one of the best, if not the best, player in the game... Jordan, Magic, Shaq & Gasol (lol).  Lets face it, he got behind the wheel of a Rolls Royce and took the bows for a nice ride.

Great coach but nowhere near the level of acheivement in all aspects of the game.. Red developed plays, pioneered changes in the game, a defender dominating games, blocking shots... fast break, the weave etc... PJ gave out copies of books about Zen and meditated..

Oh yeah, when his teams started their slides, Phil bolted..

    More "facts" from the uninformed:
    1.  "PJ" was 1-1 vs the Celtics in the Finals
    2.  Pat Riley was 2-1 vs the Celtics in the Finals.

I think Pat Riley "showed up" and won a few titles in laker land.  And we, in Clover land, always respected Riles.  We just think Phil is a phony.

You should really stop now - your lack of knowledge of your own team must be a source of embarassment for you.  Why don't you brush up on your knowledge of the Clippers, so next time you'll be able to produce a better argument!!  Have a GREAT day!!

    PJ is B.O.A.T?

If that's the case then PJ and Kobe went down like the Titanic last season.

Bro, I'm not going to discuss the semantics of how the Celtics dominated the NBA in the 60's in a EIGHT TEAM LEAGUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The modern day NBA is a lot more competitive for various reasons and some include the cap placed on teams, 4 times as many teams playing now,  players bigger/faster/stronger....there is no comparison.  For God's sake there is five teams playing in the Celtics division alone which is three less than in the whole NBA in the 60's!!!  Red did this Red did that....Please!  PJ rocked the NBA with teams that won consectutive titles as easily as Red did.  Enjoy the day!

We were one and one against Phil.  Let's not get too far into this or I will have to talk about the officiating in the fourth quarter of game seven 2010.

I will not dispute that Phil was the luckiest coach of all time.

The two photos with the last being from the back.....is that supposed to be a vague reference to 'back to back' without Shaq?

    Ugh!

Let's concentrate on Boston getting back to back titles, it has been ....um...... oh gawd I don't wanna go back to the 9 league era so let's all move on. C'mon Danny, make a move!!

It's okay, Tayshawn.  21 more years for you guys.  2 mediocre with koME, and then 15 or so in the lottery.  Let's see what Mitch can do now that no one will let him trade his garbage for gold.  It's the new CBA, Rico, and the small market teams rule now!!  Bad news for the Bully Kupchak!!

Lets hope that we see more jumpers this year added to the mix...
then he can be a legitimate best pt guard candidate..especially if we have the younger players to run with him...
this guy can really dominate a game at both ends of the floor at times. Especially because teams just don't have the pt guards to stay with him.
IF he can knock down a few shots..
For sure he looks more physical than previous years and the jumper does look smoother. Will that mean more  consistancy?? We are about to find out..
This may turn out to be one of the best trades that  never materialized....
    ...at least, im hoping...
