Rondo should have called a time-out

Rondo should have called a time-out, thus, drawing a technical foul, giving the Celtics a chance to call a play. The could tie or win on a three. -

Hi,Sorry, but it's dumb idea.Celtics had less than 10 sec.Celtics didn't have any timeouts left. So, even if the refs gave them a T it'd take 4-5 sec off the clock. On top of that they'd have to inbound the ball without an insurance of a timeout.Unfortunately, Celtics had only one option in that situation. They used it but fumbled.AK -

Like someone mentioned above, Boston ran out of Time out. Therefore, Atlanta knew that which that was why they didnt care which defender to put on Rondo. -

The high school and college rule is that the time-out is granted, with a technical foul being the result. Now, in high school and college, that means TWO shots , and the ball. Happened to me last year - forgot we didn't get the ball back!! Lost in OT - ouch!!!
Bob Cousy, when coaching the KC-Omaha Kings, once called two or three excessive time-outs, knowing the result.
Not sure if the rule has changed or not, but if it's only ONE shot, and we keep the ball, it may have been worth it!!! -

That would have been a technical foul and lost possession. Sorry, wrong idea. -

Why the %^&*$ did everyone just freeze and watch Rondo? Not one Celtic made a (legit) attempt to get open or get to the basket.

Nah...he should have went straight to the hoop. Tyus Edny and even GM Danny Ainge went straight to the hoop in the same type of situation when they were in college. Probably in less time. Whatever...let's do it again on Thursday. -

That wouldn't work in the NBA. The play was that Ray or someone should have came back to the ball instead of running down the court. That would have freed up the ball and allowed RR to get free after the pass. An on the spot decision that could have spelled victory bur it's just one of those things..especially with no time outs available. Thursday will be different! No ones fault ..just bad luck! -
