Watching the Celtics try to bring the ball up the court during the last four games should be prove beyond a doubt that Rondo is essential to their team. I have never seen such inept ballhandling by the Celtics. Bradley is a combo guard who while he may improve he will be limited. Courtenay Lee does not even play and this team appears incapable of setting up on offense.
Rondo had fallen into some bad habits but with any doubt he was essential to this team and they have floundered incredibly the last month or so. Next year there is no way to predict what will happen other than to say you won't be able to pick on Rondo because you have seen how bad they are without him.
how can you say this? we have NO POINT GUARD ON THE ROSTER RIGHT NOW- that's the problem, eh?! so rondo can handle the ball. whoopeee, that's a PG's job! now if you really want to admit that you think rondo starving the team of tempo, ball movement and altering the roles of all other players so he can pound the ball into the floor for 19/24 seconds at the top of the paint is good for the team, that's something else.
all this team and any team needs is a basic point guard, nothing flashy with ball fakes, just a 35% on 3's, 17 pts a night, 7 or 8 dimes a game, decent on defense type of point guard who can HIT FREE THROWS and HIT OPEN J's. that's not rondo. it never has been. the fact that as time has gone on there has been an inverse relationship between him progressing toward what he should be and what he ACTUALLY IS in basic competencies is alarming.
"head case" written all over it. let him go be someone else's enigma if you can even find a fool team to dish 25 MILLION his way the next two years for all 62.1 percentage points of his free throw accuracy problem
Right. this team would be better with any decent pg. Which Rondo is.
So you agree with the OP apparently.
Faulty logic. Why would he bring up Rondo and his multiple foibles if he thought he was a decent PG? You
believe Rondo is a decent PG. Just say it. Most time less is
Here's some real logic: A pencil is essential to writing when you don't have anything else. That pencil needs to be sharpened routinely and eventually replaced. Preferably you would like a pen that needs no maintenence and has a longer shelf life. If one absolutely has to have a pencil you prefer to be as backup.
Rondo is our lone pencil that is blunted and is about half the size that he used to be. He is not only afraid of the sharpener but is currently broken. Some people try to save a broken pencil out of frugality or loyality. Sometimes it can continue to work. Most times it becomes history. What has become absolutely essential to the C's is the addition of a Pen. And it doesn't have to be a fancy one either...
