"Rondo has done more in his career than Cousins. A proven clutch player who elevates everyone around him. Cousins only looks good on a stat sheet."

We aren't talking about player history here, we are talking about current market value. By that logic Chauncey Billups should be worth more then Steph Curry.

The current market value for Cousins is likely double Rondo's right now due to age, position, status among that position, injury history, stats, marketability, and contract situation.

Not to mention the fact that he would be a MUCH better fit for this team going forward, is easier to build around, would dominate in the east, and is still getting better.

It's not even close. The evidence points so strongly towards Cousins that suggesting otherwise shows an obviously bias affinity towards a certain player even in detriment to the welfare of the future of the Celtics as a team.

This trade does not make sense, I doubt it is valid unless a good big is included.

What's with the idea that Rondo should be kept?? other than he is both quick/fast

Average/below average shooter.  Same as when he came out of college

Average/below average free throw shooter.. Same as when he came out of college.

    Average defender

Last year do contract (how much is he worth if kept?)

DA will get what he can and I hope it works out.

Always Right.....at least in my mind

I'd do zeller, rondo, and ko/or sully for cousins, but why would they do it.  Cousins is the type of guy on the court you build around.  Smart, Bradley, Green, Sully, and Cousins likely makes the playoffs, at least in the weak east.  But again, why do the kings make that trade.

To me, Cousins is a bonehead talent. If unhappy, will not play up to his abilities.

Rondo wont even stop competing when you leg whip him into a gruesome dislocated elbow!

I roll with players like that! They beat the more talented but less fiery all day long, as far as I am concerned.

Ainge is not trading Rondo for this kind of chump change.

Rondo is fine right here. When he is out of his prime, he can give the lions share of minutes to Smart and Pressey and be D Fisher back-up after 35.

So you think Danny traded two hall-of-famers, and tanked a full season just to draft Rondo's backup for the next 4 or 5 years?? And that Smart, one of the most competitive players to come out of college basketball in recent memory, will be satisfied with that role?

In my world we talk of an 80-20 rule.  "It takes 20% of the effort to cover the first 80% of the way.  Then it takes the remaining 80% of the effort to cover the remaining 20% of the way."

If the trade is 80% done then there seems to be a long way to go.

I'm saying last year the injury made a difference to his game, and this year it will not affect him any more than it will in the coming years.  The injury will not get any better then it currently is.  If he is slow or less aggressive it is not the injuries fault, it is Rondo's.

Honestly it doesn't matter how well Rondo plays. He could average 15, 13, and 7, it still doesn't change the fact that he is too close to the end of his prime to ever lead this young group to contention.

It doesn't change the fact that there are basically no KG quality vets that are going to be available in the next couple years to put alongside Rondo.

And it doesn't change the fact that our second most talented player is 7 years younger, plays the same position, and we used our best pick in years to get him.

He could have a historically great season and all it will accomplish is getting teams like the Knicks or Houston to shell out more $$ to get him, trapping Marcus Smart on the bench, Oh, and keeping the Celtics from getting a decent pick in the next draft.

HNGN UPdate: 8/18/14  6:00 pm EST

Boston Celtics and the Sacramento Kings reportedly never discussed a trade involving star Rajon Rondo. Although Sacramento may not be pursuing Rondo, Steve Kyler of BasketballInsiders.com reports the All-Star point guard being dealt before the February trade deadline is "inevitable."

Sacramento has been consistently mentioned as a potential landing spot for Rondo, with names such as Ben McLemore and Derrick Williams being floated around as possible pieces to the trade. Kyler's latest report, though, dismissed the rumblings as nothing more than gossip.

"Text messages from both sides of this adamantly denied a Rondo to Kings deal was on the table or under consideration," Kyler tweeted Monday.

Kyler also believes Boston will trade Rondo, calling the move "inevitable" if Ainge isn't 100 percent sure Rondo will re-sign with Boston next summer when his contract expires.

    _________________

Marcus Smart will not be playing SG and will not be sitting on the pine.

Cousins for Rondo, would also likely need to include a Celtics 1st rounder and either Oly or Zeller in the deal...and even then I doubt Sacto would pull the trigger unless the pick was unprotected > #3.

I suspect we'll get a first rounder, a quality young backup with upside, and an expiring contract for Rondo when the smoke clears.
