Re: Rondo trade value higher after Bulls game?

I said this on the "Celtics versus Bulls" thread, we are looking at the wrong trade piece here.  Rondo is not the trade we need to make.

We need to first package Ray and JON in order to get back a big.  There MUST be a team needing the best perimeter shooter in the history of the game to come off the bench for a 2nd unit and a veteran defense-first center who can give you 15 minutes a game (once he's healthy again).

Also both salaries will be coming off the books at season's end.  Some team has to be looking for these pieces as they ramp up for the playoff push.

We can bring in a big for Rondo but we'll still have a much too frequently ineffective RA on the 1st unit, all while STILL having NO facilitator or quarterback to run the offense.  We know how effective Pierce is in that role.  So let's trade one of the "ineffective" position players to get a big first before dangling Rondo.

Yes, we need to make a trade that does not involve Rondo.  One such trade is JO, Bass and pieces for Okafor.  That will be exactly what we need.

The Greatest Scorer and the Greatest Shooter combined for a total of 1 rebound today. Too old... too slow to the ball. They've earned their titles but are now 2nd fiddles to be used when required... nice options to have but expendable.

Get Rondo some guys who can scoot. That's the ticket. Don't get rid of this guy.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Rondo trade value higher after Bulls game? : That does not make sense. The Celtics traded a 22-year old Al Jefferson for a 31-year old KG in 2007. You don't trade to rebuild, you trade to win a championship! The current Celts will become contenders if they can get a big man better than JO!

As this seaon progresses, this is exactly what we're seeing.  We're seeing just how inconsistent PP and RA are and that will continue throughout the season.  It's not for effort, it's just age.  There will undoubtedly be times when they raise their games here and there but it is becoming pretty obvious that RA and PP cannot carry the burden needed for this team EVERY NIGHT.

They completely disappear way too often and that will only continue as the season progresses and we play more and more games on the road.  PP really looks like he's dragging right now and other than a 3 here and there, Ray just doesn't do much else to help this team.

I agree, as long as Ray and Pierce are guarding DWade and LeBron, it doesn't matter who we get, we're beat!!
