Rumors begin again!!!! Paul trade Talk

The Hornets have been "strongly engaged" in talks with the Clippers, Warriors and Celtics in regards to trading Chris Paul on Tuesday, according to Adrian Wojnarowski.

Paul, along with Dwight Howard, appear to have forced the hand of their respective teams in order to force a trade before they become free agents at the end of the year. Paul is likely going to be playing for someone other than New Orleans this season, and for now, these three teams look to be in the lead for his services. - rotoworld

The Clippers are said to be offering C DeAndre Jordan and SG Eric Gordon, and possibly some No. 1 picks, to the Hornets for Chris Paul.

There are a million trade rumors out there right now, but Chris Paul seems very likely to have a new team by the start of the season. Gordon and Jordan are two very popular fantasy players already, and could be even more intriguing playing in New Orleans. Stay tuned.

Geez, sounds like the ghost of Elgin Baylor may be back in the Clipper's FO handing out first round picks and mortgaging their future once again.

More info here on Wojo's earlier tweet. Looks like it may be down to the Clipps & Celts..

On a different note, if Paul ends up on the Clippers, that does make them relevant for the first time since they were in Buffalo.

That offer would make New Orleans a pretty good young team. Borderline playoff club in need of a solid PG and SF to move Jack/Ariza to the bench to be contenders.

If they kept Landry this is a solid rotation:

    C - Jordan (32) Okafor (16)
    PF - Landry (32) Okafor (16)
    SF - Ariza (32) Pondexter (16)
    SG - Gordon (36)
    PG - Jack (28)

They would be able to use the full MLE on some backup guards, maybe keep Bellinelli as a backup SG.

Peter Vecsey of the New York Post reports that the Celtics and Hornets had agreed to a trade for Chris Paul, but Paul's refusal to sign an extension in Boston canned the talks.

How many people still believe Danny Ainge's comments that he's not shopping Rajon Rondo? It's obvious the Celtics are making a final push to win a championship with the current core, but Paul doesn't sound amenable to signing an extension with the team. Ainge is playing with fire by repeatedly dangling Rondo, and it may have an adverse impact on his play as a result.

Trading that Clipper draft pick just to get Paul makes this deal start to go the other way for me.

Looking at the Celtics schedule I see some really tough games while it is weighted to home games early we may not have a very strong record this year.  Of course being ready for the playoffs is the goal and hopefully we will be healthy.

The Hornets are more interested in Steph Curry and Eric Gordon moreso than Rondo.  The Cs will have to sweeten the pot in order to get Paul.

I suspect that DA believes that one way or another, Rondo is history in Beantown.

His stock has certainly fallen dramatically  since Danny started dangling him. Surprised even me, a long time RR "hater."

Re: Rumors begin again!!!! Paul trade Talk

Celtics are serious aboug renting Paul for one year.  Rondo plus Green plus two first round picks.  It looks like they just might get him.  Paul, Paul, Ray, Kevin and WHO.  They Celtics think if they get Chris Paul that other free agents would be attracted to rent out to the Celts for one year with the understanding that they have a valid chance to winn a CHAMPIONSHIP.  Next year with everybody, I mean everybody except Paul Pierce off the books, the Celtlics would have TONS OF MONEY TO SPEND.  Contracts of KG, Ray, Paul, Green, Rondo, JO, would all be gone and the Celts would be one of the richest teams in the League.   They might just be able to assemble a young group that would tempt Chris Paul to stay or D. Willimas to come.  Danny is way ahead of the game and his goat is to go after one this year and retool next year with the money that will be here.

I put this on another thread, which is exactly the same thread but under a different name:

Interesting game plan.  The way it is being reported is that Ainge wants to sign Paul this year and see if it brings a ring.  Next year he will hope that Paul re-signs and brings D12 with him (if not earlier).  If Paul does not re-sign, he will establish a new team with the massive cap room available.
Either way, Rondo no longer seems to be in the big picture.  Never dull with Danny.

chris paul is a great player, but i still wonder who plays center this year with either paul or rondo at the point.

o'neal, by himself, certainly cannot fill our center position

Re: Rumors begin again!!!! Paul trade Talk

League insider Sam Amick reported Wednesday that the Lakers, Clippers, and Warriors are in the lead for Chris Paul's services.

This could change a number of times before the actual decision is made, so owners probably shouldn't read the tea leaves until reports become more telling. Amick has continued to say that signing Tyson Chandler could help the Warriors' cause, which is notable on Chandler's front.

This is from SI, so I'm not sure this holds a lot of credibility,...

    But rotoworld posted it nevertheless.

I don't Tyson Chandler is part of the deal from the Warriors.  Probably Ellis and scrubs to make the number works.

Fierce, the Hornets does not want Rondo, if they have any interest, it would have been a done deal already, I believe.
