    Re: Shaq as 6th man?

It doesn't really matter what we think, Doc is the coach.  It will work itself out.  My OPINION is that Shaq will start and play the first 5-6 mins of each quarter.  JON is an ideal 6th man, as he can play 2 positions, and, like McHale (not comparing him believe me), he will get more mins than the starters, in this case Shaq and KG.  I base my opinion on three things:
    1.  Doc will play whoever is the "hot" player, not caring who it is
    2.  Shaq has ONLY started in his career, even last year.
    3.  We CANNOT have him on the floor at the end of close games - JON is a lifetime .701 FT shooter, while Shaq is............not!

And with the amount of rest KG, JON and Shaq will get, they will all get to start anyway!

For the record, who do you think starts at Center on Oct. 26 against the Heat?

In Response to Re: Shaq as 6th man? : here's another thought- shak plus rondo and the rest of the starting 5 means less running for shak when rondo is havoc making.  that makes shak's role pestering the lane on defense and when we go half court, setting man sized picks and such.

I really don't disagree with your take on Shaq being the starter. And since you already said on record that Shaq will start on Oct. 26 I think we will just have to wait and see if Doc does go back on his word and tell JO he'll be coming off the bench.

I searched the Globe and the Herald but I can't seem to find the article that said Shaq would be starting. Can you provide the link where it says Shaq is the Cs starting Center?

The Lakers got Shaq back when he was "sloppy seconds".  I think he's sloppy sixths now.  Congrats BOS.
