Simmons says DOC OUT no matter what

DA signed Doc to huge contract to be the face of the Celtics and 2 years later, DOC wants out///

Simmons says even if Clippers TRADE doesnt happen, how can Doc face his team.  Doc played DA for a chump and the guy is a weak coach to boot. Maybe worse signing DA ever made

Doc is gone, how can he come back?  Ainge should be replaced by Larry Bird.t   Beg him, pay him but get him back here. He should have never left.

Agree with you.  Bird should have been with the Celtics organization for his entire career.

Headline on Celtics home page of BDC:

A source says the Celtics are working on a trade to send coach Doc Rivers and forward Kevin Garnett to the Clippers.

Since Danny pulls the strings, we really don't know what is going on, and we don't know what Danny's plan is going to be , blaming Doc for this is a little premature.

Doc is our biggest chip. Danny was very smart to sign him for 5 years with a non-compete clause. We will get value for him from the clips or someone else. You guys screaming otherwise are clueless.

And if no one ponies up and takes the bait...???

When your coach is your biggest trading chip.... you've just hit bottom.

We held onto our aging players for too long. Now we've got two really old former all-stars, rondo and probably green that teams might be interested in. Doc seems to be attracting the most attention. If we can strap KG and PP to him and move all three, that's our best move. The question is whether Danny will blink. Hopefully not. Hold out for Jordan AND Bledsoe and a pick or two. That's our best play now.

Doc apparently heads the coming firesale, attracting the most attention.

DA's dilemma is that he cannot let doc suit up to coach this team next season.

He simply cannot w/o being the laughing stock of the NBA.

W/o a face (neck) saving deal, DA is wearing the noose.

Does DA blink now or does he hang later?

He blinks to save his neck.

Re: Simmons says DOC OUT no matter what

If Doc doesn't want to coach in Boston then someone will have to pay a price to make him their new head coach unless he wants to sit in the broadcast booth for 3 years, which he just may.  I don't know how it's a reflection on Ainge that his coach doesn't want to rebuild when there is no logial step but to rebuild.  They tried retooling on the fly.  Ray left to go to Miami over an ego bruise.  Doc signed that 5 year contract knowing at some point KG, Ray and PP would not be here.  If he doesn't want to go through a rebuilding process -- fine.  But I don't blame Danny for using his leverage to get something valuable for his coach and for his aging stars who apparently want to follow him elsewhere.  If anything, that no compete clause in Doc's contract was a shrewd move by Danny and he has three years to cash in that chip.  Let's see what DA can manage to get for his coach and aging stars because, to me, the window slammed shut after the first round of the playoffs this year.  Bringing the same team back was never an option.

What you say is right on the money.  Just add that Doc betrayed Ainge and put him in this position.  I was a Doc guy all the way and he became Phil Jackson overnight.

[/QUOTE]I didn't realize that doc is now the highest paid NBA coach.

Apparently as the highest paid coach, he desires a better venue to coach in. Otherwise he goes thru the motions and collects his $7mil paycheck.... forcing DA to do what?

Fire him? Trade him? Buy him out?

    Now that's big timmin' it!

Regarding CWB's point, no one is angry that DA is using his leverage to get what he can for doc.

We're PO'd that DA has so little leverage to use.

Re: Simmons says DOC OUT no matter what

Doc isnt a good coach and I think he knows it... He wants in where a championship team is already assembled and bringing KG relieves Doc of more coaching responsibilities.

DA fell for the hype but maybe it works in his favor. Apparently the Clipper owner is a bigger dope  and will trade some talent to us for Doc.
