..............it's just the celtics are playing emotionally together now than when Rondo was around. They don't have a choice. Rondo was around for many years now and the team focus was always with him. Like a company that lost its competitiveness that needs to be reorganized. The talent of the workers are still there but CEO lost the effectiveness to maintain the business momentum. You will find Rondo's talent remain extremely important to the team but with the work of DOC and Ainge, his role will be reorganized too when he comes back.
Pierce was right, it's not because they lost Rondo & started winning. It's celtics overall failed strategic plan. They did not utilised & executed the proper strategy to the game. Their winning will tail off regardless of what, that's where we can focus on their character....like the last stand of Gen. Custer who lost a few good men and supplies. The held the fort to death.

He and his men were caught out in the open, surrounded and overwhelmed, running out of ammo and men... much like the Cs led by Rondo.

it defends on what version of history & hollywood you read & watched....here's another one: As the Indians closed in, Custer ordered his men to shoot their horses and stack the carcasses to form a wall, but they provided little protection against bullets......so Rondo will be the carcass & to blamed?
watch a couple of games...when the Celtics tailed off then we'll talk...... right now, I agree they are winning and playing better -- not because of losing Rondo but changing the strategy and style of their games.

8-5 last year
7-3 this year
23 games in the past two years without Rondo.
maybe if we are 26-14 after 40 games we'll be onto something?

It is funny stuff. People actually get angry around here if one suggests that this kind of thing is best evaluated after a month or two.

I agree with Slick, you can't judge how we will be after 4 games against average opponents.
Starting Wed we play 7 games 3 on the road we play the Bulls,Denver twice, home and home vs lakers by 2/20. I think if we can keep the pace up and play slog ball we can win 4-5 of these games. Our biggest challenge will be Denver who are 8-2 in their last 10 and avg 104.7 ppg if we can run with them then I think we should stay pat maybe add an 11th 12th man or an amnesty player. I hope Doc goes over the last few games tape and see we have to be a uptempo team 100% of the time. If we go 2-5 1-6 in the next 7 we may see some changes.

if we go 1-6 or 2-5 we will need to make changes. We can't afford any more stretch of games where we lose like that.

Also keep in mind a couple of things.
1) We made a huge run the seoncd half of the season LAST YEAR with Rondo. Which suggests this is now more of a second half team and probably would have started playing better with Rondo just as they did the previous year.
2) The games tend to slow down in the playoffs. Will the Celtics be succesful when they are forced to slow down and play half court sets without a point guard?
