In Response to Re: Tainted Championship : The Celtics are a great defensive team, so good they made the Lakers play their game if they wanted to win. Well, you take that great defensive team, and you use it to focus on stopping Kobe first and foremost, you are going to slow down his offense. He was playing 1 on 3 for most of the series, and the Celtics did a phenomenal job of trapping him to the point he had no where to go but to jack up a bad shot. First, he garnered that attention from the Celtic defense because he is that good'. Second, basketball is not only about offensive efficiency. Kobe struggled on offense in game 7, but 15 boards from a guard? Kobe was going to be named the MVP even if the Lakers lost. All the bitter feelings you are expressing would not change that.

I agree with much of what you said; Kobe was very good at getting the ball to a teamate when the trap was on...something Paul Pierce struggles with (as did I when I played, it's no fun being smothered). But I agree with Karllost as well, at other times Kobe was just chucking em up from everywhere when he should have just passed the ball. As to who would be MVP if the Celtics won, we will never know; as to bitter feelings of some Celtics fans, why not cut people some slack, you're team won...
