    Tank To Keep Pick?

Do the Lakers plan to tank next season?
They want to keep their first-round pick in the next draft

Howard Beck tweeted that some sources strongly suggested a few days ago that the Los Angeles Lakers planned to tank next season to avoid sending pick to the Suns.
In the next NBA Draft, the 1st rounder goes to the Suns unless it falls in Top 5. Lakers were determined to keep the pick, according to Howard Beck.

    This is so funny!

Why would you spend 48m on Kobe if you were just going to tank in 2015?

And they say the Celtics are the tankers.

    HAHAHA

They can't tank with Boozer and Kobe! Unless they get injured those two will win that team just enough games to screw them out of their pick, but not enough to get them into the playoffs. Perfect!

And Boozer will keep Randle on the bench all year! Double perfect!

yes, but if lakers have decided to tank like the way the bucks did last season they might and probably end up with the top pick

Why wouldn't you pay Kobe 48 million if you were going to tank?

He missed almost all of last season, which they knew he would. Then his deal prohibited them from signing more than one max free agent and also turned off potential free agents from wanting to play for a team where Kobe was still 'the man' making the most $ in the league.

The Boozer signing was dumb, but it was just a 3.25m bid. I wonder if they even expected to win it? He almost certainly will be traded by the deadline.

This is a nice thread.  And everyone is saying things that are true.  My favorite part is keeping the Pillsbury Dough Boy on the bench for a year.  He can do his GQ interviews from there.

But - we have to think here, people.

Once Howard left, that was the end.  I knew it, you knew it......and the lakers FO knew it, too.

They will stink for the next two years - no 6th ring for koME.  Even Jerry West said so last week.

However, a new cable contract, and $500/game seats for Jack the Joker, et al means they HAVE to have something to watch.

For the next two years, koME will chase MJ and Kareem on the scoring list.  All the delusional lakers fans out here will talk about him being the GOAT, and life in la-la-land will go on.

They cannot justify charging that much money to watch a team s.ck.

It was a good business move...................now, hiring two-time failure Byron Scott as the coach would be perfect.  Former laker star, and "above" any blame since he played with Magic - yes, these are all very clever moves by Jimmy.  It's "best for business....."

"Climb on my back, boys, and I'll take you home." - Cedric Maxwell

"You show me a good loser, and I'll show you a loser." - Red Auerbach

"My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought, cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives." - Hedley Lamarr

If no Bynum injury, no Gasol trade - last word!!

Once the Sterling situation gets sorted out don't be so sure Purple/Gold continues to be a license to print money. The Clippers have all of the advantages of the LA Market, plus a top-flight coach, plus tons of young/prime talent.

Oh, and their new ownership has limitless pockets AND unlike the new Buss generation actually possesses some business sense.

Also just heard on the radio - from John Ireland, the voice of the lakers, that the laker grapevine is "contemplating the pros and cons" of acquiring Eric Bledsoe.  PHO allegedly wants........Randle, and the lakers are said to be thinking about it, but worrying about future cap space if Bledsoe signs.

Celtics should give the Lakers the Clippers #1DOC pick to take Gerald Wallace for Steve Nash.....Nash would give the Celtics so much more for this season than Wallace can, plus he can be flipped to Toronto or Dallas at the Deadline.......PRESSEY is not the answer, Nash can help us win even if he only plays 60 games 15 minutes or less.

The Celtics and the rest of the league say thank you very much for the luxury tax you pay, and the fact that they didn't even get a better pick than the Celtics.  Hopefully the same next year but without any 1st round draft pick.

Sorry but Danny won't be adding anyone that will help the Celtics win meaningless rregular season games. In fact, if any of the vets we already have are winning games for them he will probably trade that player as soon as possible.
