we also already messed up by dumping clifford ray in a swamp because he needed foot surgery that would have meant a small amount of time off hanging into the pre-season.  that was a class-less move.  but the more you look at things in BOS lately, nothing has been done with class.

nate robinson was dumped like he was some sort of disease.  look at him now.  we have traded away, driven out or benched almost every big man we've had who could HELP us.  and the one that's still left standing (bass) has been substantially IMPAIRED by how doc has "coached" (lol) him.  in case nobody noticed, bass is NOT the same player he was when he arrived here.  FTA's (aggressiveness) way down, FG% down, rebounds per minute DOWN.

so to claim that "loyalty" and "not insulting" people are part of this new period of boston tradition is laughable.  because you have a coach, doc rivers, who is an insult to the concept of basketball IQ and a wet noodle of a GM who will do nothing to try to re-direct anything into a positive direction that doc has screwed up.

Sure looks like Danny blew that one with Ezeli getting playing time in the playoffs while Melo gets into a sidelines potty mouth war off the bench with the Knicks ... Be careful what you wish for Melo lovers.

forget about melo- we could not even get PROVEN helper-on-the-boards shavlik randolph to play more than a token blow out minute in the knicks series.  doc has not yet learned "go small" on this roster translates into "lose big time"

DA's treatment of Leon Powe dispelled any notion of UBUNTU or family/loyalty.

After Leon's shameful debacle, it quickly became every man for himself, particularly if you weren't a megastar, you'd better grab the wad of guaranteed $$$ in case you get hurt.

Avoids being discarded by Cs management broke-azz if you come up lame in the line of duty.

Cold-blooded DA... missing most vital signs.

A pulse maybe more like a reptile... but no loyalty.

Danny also didn't realize that loyalty, more than an empty slogan, is  a two way street.

"We already messed up by insulting Ray Allen"

Umm asking Ray Allen to come off the bench because we needed his spark and leadership there and he could not play D anymore so we needed Bradley as a starter was not an insult.

Ray was a great Celtic but he was a prima donna. If family was the most important thing to him (Celtics family) he would have stayed.

Tell me, do you leave your "family" because of a perceived slight or two? No, you stick it out.

Ray went and selfishly pursued where he could have the best chance to win. I won't hold that against Paul or Kevin if they want to do the same, just like I don't hold it against Ray. Just don't make him a hero or a martyr.. He did what he needed to do. Alternately, if the Celts feel the need to move on that's fair game to.

Stop it with the family BS, it's a business. KG and Paul understand that and have said as much, time for you to understand it too. Either way their jerseys will go up in the rafters and there will be no hard feelings.

Free agents won't hold that against the Celtics. They will hold against the Celtics the crummy winters and lack of the kind of appealing NBA city that LA or Miami is. If we get a new coach they might hold that against us too, depends on who it is. Guys like playing for Doc and he is a major draw, despite what some of the haters want to  believe here....

    What he said!

The issue of messing up with the way Ray was treated was not in the last few weeks of negotiation. It was with the years of being hung out for trade.  That doesn't make him a prima dona for not wanting to be hung out for trade, anymore.   You wouldn't want the threat of YOUR family moved around and your seriously ill kid's doctors changing and your kids schools changing and more every year twice a year, either.   Ray chose to go to another place because he didn't trust Danny and no one should trust Danny.  He's a gun slinger who never stays with many players for long.  Ask Posey, Tony Allen, Nate Robinson, Baby Davis, Delonte West, Perk, Semih, or the myriad of other players who get traded by Danny on the whim.   That's not even to mentio the ones he TRIED to trade but couldn't.  NOt saying some trades or non-signings don't make sense (like Posey), but come on.....ALL of them!??

Whether you like Danny or hate Danny, you have to admit that loyalty is not something he worries about.  So, why criticize Ray for having no loyalty when wronged?

All the Ray guys need to look at this.  I don't mind Ray leaving,  his choice.  But to be offered more money (a lot) knowing probably more playing time, a no trade clause, and he still left? I wouldn't feel quite as bad if he had left for a team that is was not considered our number one rival at the time.  Benedict Allen.  He looks great getting mop up minutes in Miami.  Just a watcher for the most part.

Ray led Miami in scoring for their first playoff win against the Bulls. Players watch GMs and organizations closely and more importantly their AGENTS DO.

Agents will warn players if they don't already know a GM's rep. Any player not as important as Perk or Ray Allen knows that if they do everything right, they still could be traded or low balled for a new contract  Oh, and definitely don't get hurt going into free agency right Leon?

Sez pep-talkin' Danny circa 2010, "Gentlemen... make Celtic Nation proud. Go all out. Win another NBA Championship for THE GREATEST NBA FRANCHISE the world has ever known.

Gentlemen.... KG had it right. Anything's possible. This is our time! This is our day! Destiny calls!

If we had Nate along with Thibs as head coach, Im with ya.

Remember, we already had NAte and he was dumped.... Doc couldnt get him to play  for us like hes playing now for the Bulls.

Who knows with Melo... but Melo not playing for us may be better than Perk playing

Nate is playing more minutes only because of injuries to Rose and Heinrich.  He's making the most of it and doing well.  Minutes dictate performance with many plalyers.  However, with RA and Bradley (developing) and Dooling, and even Daniels, where would his minutes have been, using last year as an example? He might have been more critical this year, but the future is very hard to see sometimes.  KG at center means the team has to play bigger over all, not smaller.

I agree that not having Perkins is a plus because we do have Jeff Green, a more valuable asset than Perkins is, despite the need for a center - a real, two-way center by the way.

Wow, what a striking argument there^^ Is this you Fierce? ;-)
In your mind we would be better off with Nate Robinson than with Lebron, cause Nate blocked James?

    http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1636296-watch-nate-robinson-deny-lebron-james-with-rundown-block-of-the-year

By the way, Wade is one off the best blocking guards in the history of the league. Ray is one of the best guards in NOT getting blocked due to his fast release and length. AB, Lee and Crawford are getting blocked WAY more often than Ray.

What I don't understand: Ray took less money. You guys complain. When KG looks for market money...surprise, you guys complain. What should the players do? Well, best is not to listen to the fans, cause they always complain. ALWAYS!

people forget another way that ray was wronged- by the increasingly (as time went on) tempo killing rondo.  each year rondo would run less and less and become more and more predictable.  what that translated into was ray, ever a year older each year, having to work harder for a slightly smaller number of looks and points.  because rondo was so freaking bland in his floor general-ship.

THAT is the reason why ray left town people, not because if disrespect or lack of loyalty- he knew that his body could not take running quintuple cut-backs any more in rondo's system of self serving half court offense where rondo stood at the top of the key and pointed at people to run routes.

Acie, you are right. But the trade dangling was most likely the BIGGEST reason. Not Rondo over Ainge.

Ainge has taken a too little too late approach in contract negotiations with guys NOT named Pierce and Garnett. Guys get hard feelings when you make a last ditch effort after they get a better offer. They feel as though you don't respect them or want them as much as  the new team (TA, Ray)

Human nature has to be factored and accounted for too.

maybe so- i must admit that i was disengaged on celts news in the period after that season ended and ray signed with miami- kind of disappointed in a lot of things.  i have more hope this year that we can do some things to build anew.  but the problem here is not so much one single player or even one single danny ainge.

the biggest problem is day to day management.  doc was free to pull rondo aside and say "listen, we need to change things up a bit and stop running ray to death to get a still-contested fade away long shot.  doc has done none of that.  it's been lock tight control on everything but rondo, kg, pierce.  kg and pierce don't need control so much as rondo DOES absolutely need guidance.

rondo is a very talented individual but has been NOT coached to the point where it is very likely he is uncoachable in this setting, with this coach.  maybe another team can shatter the fascade of aloof-ness and "i'll do what i want when i want", but it's obvious to me that the celts cannot- they let the cement on that set for way too long
