the key is the 2nd unit

We should build a strong 2nd unit. Every good team has a good 2nd unit. The starting unit should be big with Rondo passing inside or initiating a penetration. Basketball is game of matchups.

    Starters:

HOLLINS    Noah       Anthony    Perkins      Duncan   Bynum
GARNETT   Boozer     Bosh         Ibaka        Blair       Gasol
PIERCE      Deng       James       Durant      Leonard   Barnes
BRADLEY   Hamilton   Wade       Sefolosha   Green     Bryant
RONDO      Rose       Chalmers   Westbrook  Parker    Sessions

    2nd unit:

STIEMSMA  Asik       Turiaf        Mohammed  Splitter  McRoberts
BASS         Gibson    Haslem      Collison       Diaw     Murphy
PIETRUS     Brewer   Battier       Harden      Jackson  World               ALLEN        Korver    Jones         Cook        Ginobili    Ebanks
DOOLING    Watson   Cole          Fisher        Neal       Blake

Thanks for your profound post. No disrespect, but what is your point? We know the current Cs roster and its weaknesses including a comparatively weak bench.

Agree and next season should be a lot different.  Not having money to spend to improve their bench has been a problem for the Celtics for a few years.  Although, signing Jermaine was not a good signing by Danny.  If we had someone else instead of Jermaine, (at least someone who was healthy), maybe we would have a better record.

When Pietrus gets healthy and with the addition of Ray our bench will be our best asset. The Allen move is for far the best strategy in Doc's era. We would have four 3pt shooters in Allen ,Pietrus, Dooling, and Pavlovic who also are great defenders. You want a weak bench check out Miami before trying to bash our players and that's for every moron saying the same!!

Inserting Bradley into the starting lineup has inspired the Celtics defensively, which in turn has allowed them to create offense from defense early in games.  As a result, the team has not fallen behind as often or by as much during this move necessitated by the Allen injury.  Although the injury to Ray Ray precipitated Bradley's surprise emergence as a well rounded player, the upside is that Doc now gets more instant offense off the bench when Ray comes in and the Celtics have not been getting so far behind in the first quarter (half) requiring them to expend excess energy just trying to catchup (witness San Antonio when Ray started).  While the bench could always be better, with Ray, Pietrus, Stiemsma, Hollins, Pavlovic, and others, the Cs have a team that will compete with the best of them come playoff time.  If the games in the last 2 weeks are any indication, I'm excited by the prospect of seeing an 18th banner hanging in the Garden in June!

    As Always,
