Pretty generous to include baseball and hockey in the "four major sports". Outside of Boston, NY and Chicago, college football is the 2nd or 3rd major sport, and baseball is on the level of the English Premier League. While I like hockey, it's about as popular as college lacrosse. But if you still want to include baseball, then yes, LA also won championships in all 4 major sports, from 1978 - 1988, USC won the championship in college football, the Dodgers won twice, the Lakers 5 times, and the LA Raiders once. -

"Major" not "Professional" was the word used. In most regions of the country, MLB is behind both college football and college basketball in popularity.
Anyway, from 2000 - 2010, LA also had 7 "major" championships. In addition to the Lakers, the Angels and Ducks each won.
This is typical Celtics fan behavior. Your team - once great - has won once in the last quarter of a century, so you start shouting about other teams. -

Major overhaul? '81 Lakers lost disappointingly to the Rockets, then came back and won in '82. '86 Lakers had a horrible loss to the Rockets, and came back to win back-to-back championships with no overhaul. 2003 Lakers lost in disappointing fashion to Spurs, came back to the Finals the next year. 2008 Lakers lost in disappointing fashion to the Celtics, then won back to back championships, without a major overhaul. We're not the ones that need 4 days rest in between games to rejuvenate in a coffin in order to win a game.

I don't think Magic and Kareem were on the 2003 and 2008 teams. History shows Lakers occasionally under perform, but then bounce back quickly. As for quitting, after the Perkins trade, Boston fell from 1st to 3rd, and went 21 - 17 including playoffs. That's 10 weeks of quitting. Also, see Paul Pierce choosing to "rest" the final weeks of 2007 to increase Boston's draft pick position. If he hadn't chosen to quit, maybe Boston wins some more games and gets the #10 pick instead of the #5 pick, and maybe Seattle doesn't get rid of RA for the #10 pick. Boston's 2008 banner is partially built on Pierce quitting. Thanks for the effort PP!!
