If you are close then sometimes all you may need is one player to make the leap. If you're waiting for a 7 year plan, what are you going to tell a FA or a good vet that may want to win in a year or 2.. If you sign with us we plan on being good in 4-5 years. LMAO! (dialtone)
That's not what I'm saying.
Remember, the last big name free-agent the Celts signed was a 35-year old Dominique Wilkins.
The Celtics offered Rondo, Jeff Green, and two 1st round picks for CP3 and CP3 declined to come to Boston.
We don't rebuild using a 7-year plan, we rebuild now!
But rebuilding now does not mean the Celts will be an elite team after 2 or 3 years.
Fierce, IT's ALL A CRAP SHOOT! There are much more than just one roadmap to success in building a NBA Championship caliber team these days. You are insiting that 2-3-years is too short. BS! We did it in less than a year in 2008, Miami did it the same way, and with all of the assets DA is banking away at the moment, we MAY be able to strike the right combinations again very very soon. OKC and BOSTON are two very different NBA markets with very different fan bases. OKC's folks are patient, while Boston is demanding and wants a winner right now. DA will push that much harder now and with a little luck while taking some risks will look to reap big rewards. SO, lets all let DA earn his money and show us how good he is AGAIN!!! Please everybody stop it with the I'M A FORTUNE TELLER GM stuff.
