#6 plus players for a trade, my guess

Only if we are trading up for Embiid.

ESPN has Utah taking Vonleh over Randle, leaving us with Randle, Smart or Gordon and the C's opting for Gordon.
I would take Randle over any of those.

Why would Utah take a PF when they already have Favors?

I would avoid a PF unless I had ALREADY traded 2 of KO, Sully, or Bass.  We need a C, SG, or SF.  Unless you trade Rondo or a PF or 2 stay away from those positions.

A rim protector at the 5. And athletic shooters at the 2 and 3. Those are our biggest needs.

If the pick isn't traded then you have to take the best available over positional need. A post draft trade can always resolve any bottlenecks.
Yeah, just like the last trade deadline right.  Nobody wants our glut of tweener, undersized and unathletic PFs.  We are basically stuck with this unbalanced roster unless we want to take pennies on the dollar for them. We should just play an all PF lineup right?  KO-1, Bass-2, Randle-3, Hump-4, Sully-5. And 32 inches of vert between the lot of them.

Call me crazy but I envision Gordon as more of a SF than as a PF.  And while Gordon's leaping over players and dunking on them, Vonleh moves like his feet are stuck in the mud.  At 6, for once I agree with Chad Ford.

Gordon is neither...thats the sad story about the guy...And you are right, Vonleh seems to have no leaping ability..

    Agreed...

    and

    A B G

    ANYBODY

    BUT

    GORDON

Haven't we had enough of tweeners whose games are not complete...the guy hustles but lacks the speed to stick with fast SF's and has no outside shot!

+1.  Really, #8?  Or are you just saying that, trying to re-win me over?  Warren's awesome.  But I thought you were hoping we'd waste the pick on Capela?  What happened?

That Capela looks promising! not a bad pick but I doubt he will be available at 17.

Re: Up to the minute mock draft

He'll be available because he's a long-term project.  And who knows, maybe he'll become the next Serge Ibaka?  But in a deep draft like this, there's no need to roll the dice on a project with the 17th pick.

Re: Up to the minute mock draft

Yeah, to knock Gordon about his speed is just false. The problem he will have playing SF is his shot creation and ball handling. He is no Pierce creatively that is for sure. But he is absolutely fast enough to keep up with guys like Paul George and Iguodala.

And comparing him to Gerald Green is completely wrong too.  Green's biggest downfalls were IQ, Defense, and motor.  These are Gordon's biggest assets.  They are completely different players other than the fact that they can both jump outta the gym.

Here are his athletic/agility #s versus the SFs that are probably going first round...he stacks up pretty well against them.

the #s are: standing vert, max vert, lane agility time, shuttle run, and 3/4 sprint.

    Aaron Gordon        PF 32.5 / 39.0 / 10.81 / 2.76 / 3.27

    Rodney Hood.        SF 29.0 / 36.0 / 11.21 / 3.14 / 3.38

    Doug McDermott    SF 28.5 / 36.5 / 11.10 / 3.15 / 3.29

    TJ Warren.             SF 27.0 / 35.5 / 11.10 / 3.04 / 3.26

    KJ McDaniels.         SF 33.0 / 37.0 / 12.71 / 3.20 / 3.10

    Glenn Robinson III SF 36.5 / 41.5 / 11.22 / 3.04 / 3.15

Gordon has the 2nd best max vert, the best lane agility time, the best shuttle run time, and admittedly the 3rd worst 3/4 sprint time, but it proves speed and agility wise he can Definately hang with 3's.
