Danny promised fireworks didnt produce.  But withf four guards who can't shoot, they can pass to our squad of sterling big men underneath orthe couple who like to prance around the perimeter throwing up threes so our guard can go to the boards.  Guards who can't shoot and big men playing small.  Throwing up is the correct term.

    [/QUOTE]

Danny didn't promise anything.  The word "fireworks" never came from Danny's mouth.  Wyc is the one who said there could be "fireworks."  Operative word is "could."  No one promised anything.

I have been critical about Danny's direction, but I have to say that I really like the guys we got.

Young especially is surprisingly mature mentally and physically for an 18yo kid.  He really plays with confidence and agility, and is well ahead of the curve defensively at his age.  He is 6'7" and long and still has time for his body to grow.  Really nice pick by Danny.

Smart is just a pit bull, I love those guys.

I don't know but I think he has very good chance to be.  Same goes for Young over AB.

I think Marcus Smart's upside is far greater than Marcus Banks.  I think the only similarity is the first name.  I do not believe Vonleh's upside is vastly greater than Sully and Oly's.

Absolutely disgusted by last night. I hate both picks. It signals another year of aweful basketball and losing more games. The Celtics are going to sit back, watch love go to LA so Kobe can get another ring and we are going to do nothing. It makes me sick!!!! They needed fireworks last night. Instead I'm sicker than a kid at an Avicii concert today. The Fury is Furious!!!! That is all.

I don't get some of you guys. I LOVED what DA did this year. Danny has had his eyes on Marcus Smart for months now. Aaron Gordon went at 4 (which I thought was a good idea), which is the only other guy I had above Marcus Smart in terms of who would be available. I actually had him and Payton tied. I honestly can't wait until those two guys go at it in the Summer League. Marcus is a fireball who already wants to guard LeBron. Give me the guy who will do whatever it takes to win. Elite defender and might be able to guard 3's with that wing span. He's going to get to the rim and get to the free throw line. I thought Danny did the best he could.

James Young somehow fell to Boston and they had to take him based on upside. I didn't really like anyone taken after 17 for Boston. Guys is 6'6"/6'7" with a 7 foot wing and can shoot. The Celtics went from having a small backcourt to a HUGE one. I'm thoroughly excited for basketball.

    Good job Danny!

Totally disgusted as well with the terrible picks last night by Ainge.  Giving up on a proven NBA PG like Rondo, who has led the C's to multiple playoff runs for an overweight unproven rookie PG who can't even shoot is BEYOND STUPID. Why not take Vonleh or Randle, who I'm sure will be BEASTS in the NBA for years to come. Nope, DA is too STUPID and wastes a 6th overall pick on someone who can't even help us in the near term, and arguably may not even help us long term. Oh and you can bet Rondo already has one foot out the door, he's gone.

I see the armchair GM's are out in full force today. Grab another handful of Cheetos and crack open a Bud Light before your next "expert" post on the message Board! LOL! This was a very solid draft. The Young pick at 17 could prove to be an absolute steal and Smart is a defensive beast! Great draft and super job by Danny as always! History has proven that Danny is a home run hitter in drafts and his trades have been a little more shakey.

People seem to forget that sometimes the higher picks turn out to be busts. If anybody remembers the 98 draft when Pierce fell to number 10. I remember Michael Olawakandi being the first pick that year and turned out to be a total bust. tony parker getting picked after Joe Forte and Kendrick Brown. If you watch highlights of smart you can see his defense translates into points. Young was lighting it up during the NCAA tournament. Hard to tell at this point how it will translate.
